Ares ure an expert here. So yea thinking of buying my first car under 2 grand or more if needed. I might just make a loan than. I love the prelude's and integra's. Integra's might be too expensive for me though. I've seen a few 88' preludes being sold around my city for $1000. Standard transmission obviously. The km's on it is around 270,000 which is ...167,770 miles. Is it worth it? Will it last me long?
What should i be looking for.

under 2K?
hmm. i would go with whatever has the least amount of maintenance issues.
that of course may seem obvious.
well, w/e car you decide to get, do a carfax report on it or something

Integra is your better choice if those are your only options.
You can find one with 160k+ miles under 2 grand easily my friend. These cars will run past 200k+ easily, unless the previous owner did retarded shit. Just get it looked at before you buy the car, Im sure it wont have any major problems. Just be prepared for maintenance. Which wont be expensive whatsoever, that car is very common a lot of parts out for it. Just take good care of the car and it will take care of you my friend. Change oil on time, etc
also you should buy it cash, dont get loans,,,, please dont get a loan...

Save every penny, work 40 hours a week and you should have it within 3-4 months.

hah partime, they won't give me 40hrs eevn if i asked. As it is now i've been picking up shifts on my days off. Max they give me is 4 hrs, oo but i do a 6 hr today. Averaging about 380$ every two weeks. getting that car shouldn't take too long. Insurance is the problem. BC insurance for male teens is in the 150's
if only a subaru landed on my door step..i'd be oh so happy

your telling me... i choke every time some nice ride drives by heh.
Yeah I feel you on the insurance part, its a real drag. If your a good driver they'll lower it down in 2-3 years, also grades help.

i second what ares said.
avoid loans at all costs, especially at such a young age. you dont want to get yourself into debt already.
regular maintenance is the key to longevity.
also, dont drive like a maniac

Integras are reliable as hell well above 200k if they are taken care of as said. My '88 is at 231k and frankly I have given that car about 80k miles of hell. Still trooping on. Look for an early 90s model with as few owners as you can find. They will last you forever. Plenty of go power and excellent gas milage.

If carfax is available do it. For the purpose to find out if it has any problems, dont be shocked if it didnt pass smog at one point or another. If it has some problems drive down to some local smog place or Kragen or somewhere and ask them to give you the codes for whatever problems you have. Take those to the shop or hell you can even do it yourself

I got kidnapped yesterday to go look at cars, thinking we were buying one for my son.I typically hate walking around car lots and it was raining bad yesterday,so you can tell I was less than enthusiastic.
We looked at fords and mazdas and dodges, and decided on the Mazda3 in a dark red a 2010 model brand new.
The surprise was...it was for me and has my name on the title.......Didn't see THAT coming..at all!

I recommend that you only buy a toyota. I have had to many ford and chevy cheap cars break down to ever buy another one. But on the other hand, my toyota truck has over 270,000 miles on it and still running good.

i'd never ever ever ever ever ever ever buy an american car. No offence. Japanese are built better and the parts are cheaper than german cars. Hence why i said i was looking for an acura or honda. Acura being a high end honda i believe.

Very biased statement, ford and chevy are just as reliable as any other car now a days, maybe back in the 80's when the average car wouldn't last past 100k miles.

Not better, but in a way you can say its better to get it as a first car, tons of parts, good MPG, easy to repair.
