Whether you are on the serving side or the customer side,we all want to be treated with respect and have a good evening.
The patron pays for the service ,but this is no reason to hassle someone that works for tips.
Having run a few establishments and also waited tables,I know both sides of the coin.
What was your worse experience dining out?Or working at a dining place?
One of mine was when the cook missed the *** of boiling water, hearing screams in the dining room ,and chasing down live crawfish that had all the ladies screaming and kids standing on tables....
THAT was an interesting night.
Your turn!cool:

That is what a lot of people don,t get Tap....the person waiting on you in most cases does not prepare the food. They just happen to be the bringer of bad food to a table at times.
I had an experience in a pizza place once when*no joke* they brought it to the table with only sauce on it......and wanted to charge me 20 bucks for it....this is where the wait staff could have noticed as walking it to the table 0.o I always over tip too btw.

I can't really say I've waited tables although I know what it's like to work gratuitie jobs when your literally at the mercy of the patron, I work pizza deliveries as a side job for a little extra spending cash, and I ****ing hate it when I'm tipped literally 1 dollar for driving halfway across town promptly with large orders of food. I once had a delivery where the order was 14.75, and usually I get 20's and told keep the change for the 5'er...but the lady persisted on giving her back 5 dollars. Walked away with 25 cent's...I made sure to tell her hope you enjoy your food. Or even the people that ask for 1 ****ing dollar back, like honestly, I know it's a single dollar (100cents), but c'mon, I never ask for change back when I tip, and to think someone is really asking for a single dollar back, I hope you can buy your arizona iced tea, or your pack of bazooka bubble gum with that dollar !

I know your pain hun.My son was a delivery driver and sometimes got 25cents. o.0
I always add 3$ to the bill when I get delivery, then another 3$ in cash at the door.IT IS A DANGEROUS JOB WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT...YOU COULD BE STANDING IN FRONT OF THE NEXT TED BUNDY!
A good experience to me is having my drink kept full and plenty of napkins.Food not over or under cooked and clean glasses and silverware.
To gauge the cleanliness of any restaurant, check out the bathroom before ordering. This simple check will let you know how clean the kitchen is...trust me.

My worst experience was at a very fine dining seafood restaurant for my sisters birthday. The waitress literally held her hand as she ate, but ignored the rest of us the whole dinner. Like she walked away from the table when 3 of us had empty glasses. And more, this literally pissed me off and all the other shit she pulled.
Otherwise it was the time when we went to a big burger joint in GB known for its Football/Packer support. We had to flag down a waitress to order our food. Then another handed out the food and that was the last we saw them.
Edit: After I posted this, I saw a google ad for particular seafood place. laugh:

When I waited tables I knew the importance of keeping glasses filled,as it was a Cajun place with spicy food.
As a joke I wore a pin reading "Tip me or die of thirst" They tipped and all my comment cards were about excellent service.
I later went on to manage the same restaurant, and did catering.
My worse management disaster was catering to 5000 people and a table collapsed spilling food everywhere....

I used to wait tables a little bit when I worked at Pizza Hut in high school and here's the deal,
servers get paid less than minimum wage. When you dine out and get served by some cute little girl or guy who busts their ass making sure your damn cup stays full and clean napkins are always by your plate, you damn well better give them a tip. They don't do that shit for free, and if they were believe you'd go get your own napkins and you'd fill up your own cup. They wouldn't ask how the food is or if there's anything they could do for you.
For the most part, though, I've always cooked and well, if you shit on your server (IE-- make unreasonable requests, act like an ass, or piss off your server in any way) please believe they get pissed off. They always get you back whether you know it or not. Some extra ingredients might get into your food, and it doesn't matter how high quality the restaurant is. People are just as immature and just as big of an asshole as you can be, so well... treat restaurant staff with respect. I couldn't even tell you how much i've seen food get screwed with because a customer was being stupid.
Restaurants really operate like the movie Waiting btw, so yeah. Don't **** with people who handle your food.
I've always kissed server's asses and tipped well because I know eating out isn't free. And always tip your pizza delivery drivers too, those guys never forget who tips and who doesn't.

Whole heartedly agree! Those poor pizza drivers make minimum wage and need the tips! They also use their own cars...so I mean...it is wear and tear on a private vehicle!
Hell I normally tip 5 bucks and praise them when they can find the dang house!(we do not have numbers on it)

Tips aren't a big thing here in Aus. Due to higher wages or not I dont know but i'm yet to go somewhere where you tip.

Foreigners NEVER tip, I guess it's an American thing. When foreign tourists came in any of the places I worked they never tipped, ever. Just talking with a foreign accent is grounds for some of the .. more feisty servers to automatically hate you and get your food tuned up.
It's obviously not big in places outside of America and it shows every time foreigners dine out. Foreigners would order multi-hundred dollar deliveries and tip $5 total.
Foreigners, ESPECIALLY Indians, NEVER TIP.
God cheap people piss me off.

Doesn't everyone? lol
Anyways this happened to me a couple days ago. Since I work at a fast food place that dosent allow tipping (even though we keep them the rare times they come our way) I never do expect tips. But one time these people left a huge mess and a dime on the table. I said something like, "Wow, really a dime!" and the people a couple tables down heard me. Not only did they pick up all their mess but they left me a two dollar tip. Which aint nothing but when you're at a place with no tips, a two dollar tip is quite a big deal. lol
