Problem starting up de game

As soon as i make the settings right and click start ill the the following error;
Diablo II Exception UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: ACCES_VIOLATION (c00000005) Any one how had this problem before or know a way to fix it?

i tried this and it quit giving me the error message but not the program just sits at the main menu of the game...got any pointers
