Requiring Expert Assistance
#1
I don't know if any of you can help me, as Blizzard has failed in the attempt. I'm having very unusual issues with my Diablo 2. One night, I was playing it, and it was working ok. The next night, I put in my disc, and instead of the usual 'Play Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction', it said 'Update to Lord of Destruction'. The LOD icon is on my desktop, the files are in its directory, and nothing has been removed/replaced/moved. So, first I thought it was my computer malfunctioning. I rebooted, but the problem still existed. I downloaded D2 Loader, thinking this could be the solution, and put it in Diablo.exe in the necessary folder. It never worked, but I'm not so concerned with that problem. What I'm really apprehensive about is the fact that my computer is not detecting that LOD is installed. I would reinstall it, but that's another story. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

My questions are:

How is it possible that this could've happened?

How can I repair it?

How can I prevent it from occurring in the future?

That's not the problem at hand. What is wrong is that Diablo 2 won't even load.

And it's really great timing, too, because I just got some really good items I've finally wanted to wear/use.

But now I can't. Damn machines.

Mine takes about that long, but it won't load at all. When I try to open the icon, an error message pops up, reading "Please insert Play Disc". And my disc is already in the CD drive.

No, I don't have Windows XP and clicking the retry button really fast would definitely not help.

take all the .mpq files off the lod cd and copy them into ur diablo 2 directory. then the game will work without the cd. i had that problem on my comp. it was my cd rom drive. too old to work or something. but d2loader is probly the best solution. u need d2char.mpq d2music.mpq and d2talk.mpq if im not mistaken.

'Insert Play Disc' huh..

Sounds like a burned CD to me, get another version of D2Loader. Diablo will NOT run on a burned cd unless you use a program such as Alcohol 120% to illegally burn an EXACT copy. Get a good D2Loader and it should run smooth.
