Ragnarox-xxt Wrote:Well...im not christian..but if you are gay dont you go to hell when you die? or is that chatolosism?
But any way...its not about Bush you dont relize that the President doesnt have full control...its that a majority do not believe that gays should get married. and i think it is a religous issue...but i dont see why they would want to get married...its just a waste of time/money. why cant they just stay together w/ getting married?

first of all, hell is part of christianity and many religions. the point is that many religions are against gay marriage. so we are not bashing on christianity. we are bashing on gay bashers in general
second, people are angry at bush because he is thinning the line between church and state
third, though we are indeed a democracy, we sometimes have to stick up for the underdog. a majority believed that there were witches in the Salem Witch trials. a majority of voting males in america believed that blacks were inferior during slavery times. america is a melting pot where every person is an ingredient. a democracy serves the people whether black or white or gay or straight. the USA does not just cater to white males
third, gays want marriage because they deserve the same rights and benefits as married couples. it is completely ignorant to ask of gays to just not be married. to me, it is comparable to asking straight lovers to just not marry.
marriage for gays is not something that each and every gay will do. what gays are fighting for is the right to CHOOSE to marry just as couples have the right to CHOOSE whether or not to marry

Ok, where to begin. You keep saying that Bush is thinning the line...but from my history of American politics, no other president said gays should marry. In fact, a lot of our previous presidents were just as religious if not more than Bush. So now lemme ask you, how is Bush doing anything different then our past? How is he making this line thinner if it has actually been a hell of a lot thinner with previous presidents? And don't start complaining about how Clinton was different, because he didn't give Gays the marriage right they wanted either. And during his second term, the Senate was majority Democrat. So it was open to happen, Clinton never did anything. So how is Bush making this line thinner again? I'd like specific examples and sources, rather than just broad statements or generalizations.

Edit: And never speak of the Salem witch trials again, because the statement you made was wrong right away. It was consolidated to a small area of New England. Majority my a$$, the British troops stepped in quickly and ended the trials. And these have nothing to do with the issue. And if you say it does because of the majority of people believed that those being killed were witches, then you are wrong right off the bat and just making things up to help prove your point...AKA confirmation bias, and you go to the extreme to try and prove your point by making things up. But you aren't alone. Wink

Someone seems to have Forgotten my post Wink
Quote: You know what? Guess whats against gods will? Sodomy<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->. Not love. Gays can be christian aswell, And we dont all engage in acts of sodomy, Now, im not one of these people, BUT. Why shouldn't they be able to have a marriage if they dont engage in sodomy, And they are christian? Whats wrong with that? They aren't doing anything against gods will, Thier simply being turned down Because of Prejudice.

So ley me ask again. why cant a Homosexual christian that does not engage in Sodomy, Marry? Because he's homosexual? Well, If thats the case, Why the **** can straight people marry? All i ask people to do is put themselves in our shoes and see the point, we aren't doing it for sympathy or to "Recruit" Like most Over-zealous christians think we are, we are doing it to be the same as everyone else, Wheres the harm in that trog? Oh shit yeah, Theres nothing wrong with equality.

Actually, in the constitution, there isn't a defined law separating Church and State.

hmm, ill take your statements into consideration
just to clear things up, i read ur posts on this thread and im still not sure on your position on gay marriage
are you for or against? actually, do you think they deserve the same rights as straight married couples?

edit: btw, i do appreciate you finding fault in my arguements. they actually help me debate better

I don't think gays should be married, maybe a civil union, but to me, since I am ver religious; gay marriage would not make the special union between a man and a woman as special. As saying gays are born gay is bullshit in my opinion, because I have a friend who is bi, and he told me that he told me thst he first started liking guys when he was in 9th grade, thought the idea of being gay was disgusting before that.

So your saying Men cant love men? [Image: rolleyes%281%29.gif]
And how the **** would you Know that Homosexuals aren't born gay?
as long as i can recall, Ive liked men, not women, and because of this, i didn't even think Twice that i was "supposed" to like women.
third. Just Because Your Religion doesn't agree with it, You dont agree with it?
Open your mind and learn to accept others, even though you dont agree with them.

I'll have to disagree there. I know a guy who just recently decided he was gay. I honestly do not think people are born gay.

EDIT: Okay, maybe some people are. This doesn't mean all homosexuals are born gay.

But on to responding to the question of the thread...

Do I think it is right? No. Do I think they HAVE the right? Yes.

Here's my outlook: If it is not possible for a couple to have intercourse and conceive a child, it isn't right.

Do you have even the SLIGHTEST clue the number of married couples, man and woman, that are unable to naturally concieve of a child? Its incredible! So are you saying that if a man and a woman get married and later find out that either the man or woman are infertile and can not have children the church should anull the marriage? What about those that are born infertile or have defects like an incredibly skinny urethrea(SP?)? Are they not to get married either or have their marriages anulled?

Your worse then the guy who thinks gays should not be allowed to get married.

On a side note I've always been attracted to both men and women. I find both forms very pleasing.

I think gays should be able to marry. Not letting them marry is like saying that blondes can only marry blondes. People sohuld love who they want to love.
#74
i believe that gays are born gay but have had their homosexuality repressed then were trained to be attracted to the other sex. then that repressed sexuality comes back out during the teen years when the person is generally more open-minded
#75
I don't think that gay people should marry because it says in the bible that the right place is with the opposite sex and same thing in other countries' bibles. But it is not my right to tell them how they should live their lives because "All people are created equal", and they also have the right to do what they want.
#76
does it say literally that the "right place" is with the opposite sex or is it inferred because most of the people were with the opposite sex?
#77
I believe the wording is between a man and a woman...but I really wouldn't know I haven't read too much of the Bible.

Your life porpose is to reproduce. 2 men can't reproduce 2 women can't either. Personaly i think it's wrong but that's all i think is that it's wrong. I don't feel that strongly on the issue to say no you can't marry him your a man. Do what you want as far as i'm concered just know that it's wrong. There has to be some chemical imbalace or something that makes you (gay) because how can you just choose to go after the same sex. ***** on buthole action isen't right i don't care who ya are....lol.

Damn you...you beat me to it.

But seriously, if the point of life is to reproduce then that's a pretty sad existence.
