Omfg Diablo Breaks Federal Crime
#1
Blizzard has broken the Fedral Laws of the USA for invading ur computer with a worm code that searches your computers memory space for commonly used .dll files that are used in hack programs. This is invasion of our privacy as well as knowingly wrighting code that seeks information from our computer memory for your use without notifing the end user of your intentions. THIS IS AGAINST THE LAW.

The code I am speaking of is in ...
D2Client.dll

Text strings referenced in D2Client:.text, item 627
Address=6FB0261E
Disassembly=PUSH D2Client.6FB86160
Text string=ASCII "..\Source\D2Client\WARDEN\WardenClient.cpp"

The new Information Privacy Act that was invoked by congress last year clearly states that this activity is illigal..

Reading information in THERE game folder is one thing but to search your memory for dll's made from other company or people is another thing..
If I write a code that looks in your memory for what web page your on or what is in the E-mail you are reading I would be breaking the law as well.

The new Information Privacy Act says it's going to far. Our congress the represents the people of this great country do not want our cival right violated so they invoke such laws. And yes they are in fact spying on you when they search our computers memory for information and files that they themselves did not put there.

This was in the battle net forums. I wanted to trasfer here just to let people know incase a rep ip banned that users and removed thread.

there was a lawsuit action taken agaist blizzard over this matter a few years ago. It failed, but since then the privacy laws have been updated. It now conflicts with the new laws and battle net/blizzard failed to change things

For the people who this is about hacks.

This post is not about hacks or hacking or account bans.

This post is to inform people of a code worm used to scan your computers memory.

This is against Federal Laws (Privacy Act)

Well, its not about getting you account back or not. It's about them invading our privacy. We're not really worried about getting our accounts back. We're just worried that they are checking our computers with a worm.

I think they have right to do it.........

Read the TERMS OF AGREEMENT when you install and I bet there's something saying they have the right of verifying if you got hacks or not..........

That post is complete BS. That guy is just out to get you paranoid. That code has nothing to do with checking your memory for hack DLLs. Even if Blizzard was to do something like that. It isn't Illegal. A company can, within certain limits, protect thier own software using routines like that. Viruses and worms replicate and spread themselves. Checking for certain DLLs hardly constitutes a few lines of code being malicious. I went as far as to disassemble the DLL myself, and guess what I found?? NOTHING! That text string mentioned isnt even in the damn dll. I DID find some interesting things about guildstones and guild trophies.

Don't spread rumours. Make sure you know what you're talking about before you post next time.

well uh don't u think they would know better to do somethin if they could possibly get sued for it... they knew people would be mad and they had to have somethin about it in there TOU. Im blizzard isn't dumb enough to go and do somethin like that that could possibly put them out of buisness...

I agree with cheshire. Also, anybody who goes up against Blizzard lawyers is assuredly going to lose. Their lawyers are like nazi's with guns vs. little children. Could you put up a defense? Better be quick about it.

It would be really interesting if someone actually went up against blizzard. Although they are surely to win if it would interesting if someone actually goes sue them.

i agree that it would be interesting...even if blizz wins a lawsuit its still bad publicity that they had to go through it
