i could be wrong, but i dont think canada has a very big army..and really the only peace-keeping they do is when they support the US, which they almost always do

-.- evey one has the worst views of canada's military even though we have one of most tech'd out ships out there and i do admit that our army is total shit ,after looking through the armies website's
but then again not all of our income is into the military
its hard to say wut will be the next super power india and china are close but my guess would be india

canada survived( cant find out) but the usa has taken heavy damage from the nukes (ouch!) but usa somehow won the war with canada,japan,french,brithish and various eropean contries (germany italy etc)

the ISS staion mabye had nukes with em and they launched it towards china...
at least san fransico survived

mathalamus, you really don't know what you're talking about. First, it's hard to respect the opinions of a 14 year old that can't spell and doesn't know that a territory named Taiwan exists (I won't call it a country--even though I believe so--because it's debateable). Your mistake's aren't typos--you just don't know how to spell.
"Radioation"--that's pretty interesting.
Presently, China is already a superpower. It's economy is growing incredibly fast because there aren't very many restrictions, as in the USA. It has already invested in nuclear technology.
Don't get me wrong. I hate the Chinese policies of mass murder and other torture. But you simply can't overlook or "predicit" that China will be a superpower--since it already is.

It is already an economic battle. Since the thread was who should be a superpower and not who is (or should be) why not open it up to a few other nations as well? How 'bout Great Britian restoring it's greatness? or maybe making the Cayman Islands a new country (they are currently a British colony if I remember correctly) and having them be a new superpower ( I love a lot of their banking and social prgrams...)? Both India and China are virtual superpowers already? Russia was a superpower but due to problems with their economy have fallen short. What country has the greatest social and economic freedom? Maybe that would be a good topic for flame wars....

I think that the creater of this thread does not exactly know what he is talking about. Look at the name of the thread:
"Who shold be a superpower if usa ever wind down?"
Namely, it implies two conditions that are questionable.
1) It implies that USA has not wound down yet. That is debateable.
2) It implies that there can only be one superpower at a time. As already discussed, that is incorrect. Also, one should state, a superpower in which aspect. Any country with WMDs has the potential of being a militaristic superpower. Any country with a prospering economy and necessary population, such as China, could be a superpower. There can be numerous superpowers in the world in numerous aspects.

and your opinions of america make me shake my head. first off, yes america is still the most powerful country in the world. if it wasnt, china would probably have invaded half of asia already. sure america has been in a few wars that maybe it should not have been, but it was always trying to help someone. how is that uncivilized and warlike? as an eastern european you should have a better perspective on this...since your country was right there in the middle of hitler and stalin? speaking of which, was your country one of those that the US completely rebuilt after you "civilized" europeans tore the crap out of eachother in ww2? if it wasnt, then its one of like 5. after all the US has done for europe, you'd think it would get a little more respect over there....

No, the US did not help to rebuild Estonia after WWII. I remember that there was some kind of "Marshall aid" or something, in which Americans offered help to European countries to get us out of crises, but having been annexed by the Soviet Union, we were not allowed to accept that aid. So no, I cannot recall America ever doing anything for us.
You are questioning the "civilization" of the Europeans? Well, at least we didn't nearly exterminate an entire race. You cannot judge Europeans by the actions of one leader, Hitler. Russians are Asians, not Europeans.
