but they will crush us eventually.. we have already made them mad b/c we wanted them to stop pegging their currency to ours. if they decide to do something economic about us.. we are screwed, very. an even greater depression will happen. and this could happen very soon you guys...

Your argument is based on what? Who do you think will suffer more a globally connected economy like the US or a country heavily depended on foregin investment like China in case of a trade embargo. Come back with a decent argument and then we can start a debate.

Edit: Do you even know what most of China's economy consists of? The reason china is growing is because western countries are moving production of cheap products there. What is China going to do? stop exporting? That's the dumbest thing i've heard in ages. Even if China did decide to do something stupid like that then they would be doing a favour to India. have you not heard the news of the US wanting china to stop them pegging their currency to theirs?? China did not like it of course. let me tell you. they buy our bonds so that we can keep infaltion in check and the debt down. if they were to stop buying these IOUS, our 700+Trillion dollars in debt would sky rocket, and inflation would get out of control.

China's economy is not based purely off of other countries productions in that country. They are huge exporters and importers. They also purchase our bonds.

fool, the US doesnt have a 700+ trillion dollar debt. its 8.4 trillion. way off. and china can not do too much to us. there is a ocean in the way. a giant standing army is useless unless you can use it. yes, then you bring in warships and planes and everything. but problem is, those take a lot of steel to build. plus we have a bunch. already built. the way they would take over us is if they made some fantastic new weapon that can kill a few million people in one hit. like we have.

remember, back before world war II, the us hit the great depression. then boom, wtf, the US has entered world war II and ends up owning. the war created jobs for people and circulated money. crappy wars like the iraq one now where it doesnt affect many people in the US dont do anything but hurt us, but its the big wars that make us strong. the US is strong because we are a mix of all cultures. we just have a monkey leading us -_-

Have you ignored all of my previous posts? Economically China and Japan are competitors to the US but nowhere near of becoming a threat.

Japan it self, within the last 100 years has proven it IS an enemie, not just an economic threat. As for China, no matter what anyone says, you're stupid not to think one of their top research topics include advanced weapon research, biocemic weapon research, and nuclear warfare research.

lol am i the only one who voted for russia. russia has throoughout history wanted to conquer the world(well that's what it said in a book anyways). like look how the soviet union wanted to take over the control of ravenged countries after WWII. usa knew that was a bad idea and then we plunged into the cold war. also, Russia is a HUGE country. and they got mountains cutting part of the country off from the rest of europe on their west side and they got the ocean the their north and east side. the only way really into russia is through china. And people from the north(mongols 1500-1600's) have managed to conquer china from the north before.

also, canada wtf? canada isn't a super power, they just get their money from growing pot where it's legal in canada and smuggling it over th border into the usa. oh yeah and from playing hockey lol

also again, um i think you forogt a few key countries. how about for 1 GERMANY. they almost conquered al of Europe in WWII. and France. and ofcourse Great Britain. Japan tried to conquer all of southeast asia. But their too small and without conquering some land to actually stand on they never have the resources to be anything special.

yeah China is not gonna take us out economicly. If the us economy goes down, the world economy goes down with us. the great deppression was international. that's why people in germany were all poor and why they thought getting rid of jews would return german to its former glory. Germany was poor because all the countried after WWI stopped trading with germany. by stopping trade with a former giant trade partner the world economy went intos a depression. just some countries got hit harder than others.

South Korea's been also getting a lot of attention lately too. but America won't be "dethroned" for a while though. i mean, we have the resources and major oceans on each side. but by the time they do fall, i think russia could be back in power. if WWIII was to break out though, russia would win in my opinion. they like i said ealier are the hardest to invade. I also forogt to mention that besides the fact for being only able to be invaded from their south side, their climate would make it hard to invade them at all. When Napolean invaded russia his tanks froze and prevented thier advance if i'm not mistaken.

There's also uprising in the middle east. with iraq at the edge of all out civil war and all those countries falling into desperation. There could be a repeat of WWII genocide and sparking of a war there. Also i remeber hearing of some mass genocide that's going on in some country in africa i think. the only way to get the world under control in my opinion is to have one universal government. which means yes there would have to be a giant war.

I haven't really been keeping up, but who said Japan was an economic competitor with the US? It definitely isn't. Japan will never be a superpower because it lacks resources such as oil or minerals. As a result, Japan will always depend on trade with other countries, whereas China or the US has all they need right at home. The reason why Japan was able to be an imperial power was because of the people's work ethic and nationalism.
