How to protect yourself from viruses/trojans/spyware
#21
norton's is fine...i have never seen anyone problems with norton's....and if someone has a problem with it, it's 99% users fault
#22
hey you backed me up yea.and who gave me a bad repuation on this!thats why im posting now..
#23
Norton is not fine i asked a computer tech and he said it was terrible
another one said that it could stuff up bios ok so it is not my opinion it is the truth
#24
like i said 99% of people who have problems with nortons its there own fault...i know plenty of people and millons of othere have no problem with it, if it was a norton's problem everyone would have the same problem but not everyone has problems with it only the people who don't know what they are doing
#25
I have Norton, Zone Alarm, and Ad Aware and only the occasional worm gets in when I'm downloading from Kazaa. Only reason it gets in is cause Kazaa keeps dl records so you can preview files but since they are temp files being used by Kazaa you have to cancel or finish the dl before it can be fixed. I never cancel sine the dl files are like 3423543.dat I never know which file has the virus so I let it finish and the problem is solved.

sounds liek the auto hide feature is on but if it isn't try locking the taskbar by right clicking on it and locking
#28
no, the auto-hide feature isnt on, its like explorer.exe keeps closing and restarting. bcuz if look at my desktop, the icons dissapear w/ the start menu. the auto-hide feature isnt on and it is locked--im not THAT computer illiterate to try that first.
#29
well try putting in your win xp cd and going to the dos promt and type sfc /scannow
#30
windows integrity files were good. but after that explorer.exe still kept shutting down so i had to reinstall windows xp. Sad lost 3 days work.

i never said the millions of people were inexperienced, and beliveing 2 "so-called techs" that are given there opinion is not the way to judge a reliable company like symantec they have been making products for yrs and will continue because there is nothing wrong with there products problems arise for users, if they were as bad as you or everything else think they are it would not have been released
#33
Either not released or lots of complaints and I've never heard anyone have any problems with Norton, at least nobody I know irl. I've heard of people posting about some problems on forums but I've never had a problem with it and neither have any of my friends.

as i said it now does not stuff around in BIOS
it used to .well ive seen it do this ,it may have been an old version, but it skrewed someones computer up so badly that they had to reformet the HD and they are not connected to the internet so it was not a virus
they are not so called techs they are legit one of them teaches at tafe ok...
and he constantly gets computers to repair and ive never seen him use nortons and he told me that he had seen norton stuff a computer up before
he also told me that norton has some bugs in it major ones
and this is not an opinion of his it is a fact/experience OK
#35
Yazzi sorry 4 this noob question but whitch one did u use that gave u that results? looks good to me Big Grin

just bcuz he's experienced doesnt mean hes an expert. hell man i can assemble a computer from scratch but I'm screwed when it comes to protecting myself. but also if i say installing ur pci card b4 ur hd is good (which it isnt) just bcuz i do it all the time doesnt mean im right. =\. and in reply to the other post right above this. I used the online norton/symantec one.
#37
thank you this is very helpfull!!
#38
Damn. Thanks bro.
#39
