I know this is a very newbish thing, but have you done the basic disk cleanup and defrag. I used to have this same problem with wc3 alot to and these always managed to fix it.
Also are you getting any error messages? Or does the only problem appear to be that the game froze up?
Another option is that you set your hertz up past the 60 setting and the game is having an issue with it, if you put them up high just set it back to the 60 RR and see if that fixes it.
