making them is simple getting the items the tough part. You need an ethereal non socketed paladin shield getting one which is just plain ethereal, elite and have hi res is extremly hard. Next put the item in the horodric cube with the runes to socket normal items (its on arreat summit) and transmute.
The item will gain a certain number of sockets usually 3 or 4 on a elite item dropped by a high lvl enemy. The normal base defence will be 100% higher instead of the normal 50% from ethereal.
Then you runeword it and it should have a killer defence.
These are on open before someone comments on the indestrucatble exile its just showing what happens. The overall defence is just stupid when you combine it with holy shield (with the eth bugged stone + eth bugged exile)
