star trek is fantasy
anything traveling faster than the speed of light would go backwards in time
im not sure of the details but i saw a graph one time representing speed and time and as the line approached the speed of light, it bent back on itself
here's my take on time travel anyway. i read up a few theories.
supposedly if you have a wormhole with two ends, you can set one down while spinning the other end at the speed of light for 20 years. the settled end of the wormhole will have passed 20 years in time while the spinning wormhole will have passed only moments. theoretically, if you then enter the 20 year old end of the wormhole, you will emerge out of the other end almost 20 years into the past.
funky huh?
in the other, if a person builds a shell out of superdense material such as that of a black hole, a shell big enough to house a person, they could travel into the future. theoretically, if they could get into the shell and not get crushed in the process, gravity, which distorts time, will be so great that time outside the shell will pass at an incredible rate while the guy on the inside watches at his own time. inside the shell, the guy will be fine because with an equal amount of supergravity in all directions, he is being pulled every way equally, thus weightless. so a person can sit inside a superdense shell and therefore travel into the future. however, it is only a one way trip
