ok, in order to find out what video card you have, follow these steps.
1. click start
2. click run
3. type in "dxdiag"
4. click OK
5. it should pop up a window that has your computer specifications on it. click on the tap that says display. in that tab it will say what your video card is etc.
vga or d-sub is the cable that connects your monitor to your computer. yours should be vga. its blue in color and screws into the back of your video card. (or mother board if your have an integrated one).
try to find the same for your tv. what you have right now sounds like digital connects. thats not what your looking for.
