My opinion: Your video card 'desynched' or messed up when it tried to load doom 3 graphics? Mayb you need a better video card? Not sure, this happens to other games too (the starcraft players out there know that if they start a game and minimize, theres all these black shit there but it dissapears if u move your mouse on it).

Just restart your comp, it fixes most stuff. Then try to run doom3 again, if the screen is messed up again, you'll know that doom 3 is somehow involvd.

i have ati radeon x700 pro i dont think itd be a shitty card, and ive also restarted my computer, unpluged my monitor, shut the whole computer down for 2 hours and non of that ****ing worked... do you guys think its my monitor then? **** this sucks

and also should i try to look at the same screen in doom 3 on my tv to see if it will **** up? im just scared it might **** my tv to i just dont understand how looking at some monitor in a computer game could **** up my monitor:S

Hmm we'll ive had the same monitor for over 4 years and its never actually '* * * * ' up on me or glitch like that. Maybe it was a coincidence that while looking at Doom 3 graphics, your monitor internally blew up ( X_X ) . Try using your tv to view doom, and looking through a tv to view doom wont mess your tv up if i'm correct since all graphic processing is either done by your video card (or if u dont have one) your motherboard. Your monitor is just pixels to show the processed stuff.

question, is your monitor ****ed when your not playing doom 3? or is it only ****ed up when you play doom 3?

if its only ****ed up while playing then you need to check for the latest drivers for that card. i know nvidia is bad about sending you outdated drivers with your new card. i also know that Radeon cards like to run hot, maybe your computer doesn't have adequate cooling and you fried your card... just a thought.

Excuse the pun, but Tool hit the nail on the head when he said it's the VC Ram. However, it could also be overheating, in which case it might not be a permanent problem. Does it do this is any other games? And if you turn the settings down, does it still artifact (that's what the blocks are called)? Also, make sure the fan on the VC heatsink is still spinning.

theres a plug in the back of my video card and then i just put one of the yellow cables i got when i puchased the video card in there and plug it into my tv and then when i go to properties on my desktop and go to settings i change it to monitor 2

It didn't come with a standard 1-year warranty through at least the manufacturer? What's the manufacturer? I'll look it up. Where'd you buy it, too? I've never seen a computer part come without a warranty. Also, if it doesn't have a warranty, you might be able to RMA it.

What kind of card do you have? Does it have a DVI (white) plug on the back of it?
