Intel Pentium 4 w/ HT S-478 @ 3 GHz
1 gig of PC3200 RAM in dual channel
eVGA 6600GT
Creative Live! 24 bit sound card
3x CD burners, 1x DVD burner
160 GB hard drive, getting a 250 soon.
Both my GPU and my CPU have non-stock heatsink and fans.

As soon as I buy the parts for my parent's computer I'm upgrading to 2x 1 gig stick of Corsair XMS RAM so I can finally overclock again. And I'm also upgrading to a socket T P4 with 64 bit tech so I can run Vista smooth. Wink

Also, you wasted your money on an Intel dual core processor. Intel's dual core processor technology sucks bawlz. AMD is way better for dual core stuff.

You people are morons for buying Intel dual core processors. Waste of money. Little overkill on the RAM, Dustoid? And your sound card sucks, too. But damn... I want your memory...

Guys, as far as I know isn't Pentium 4 like the best? Whats up with Pentium D and AMD Athlon shit?
Reply
#10
No, AMD is better than Intel, currently. P4's are no where near as efficient as Athlons. And the Pentium D is a joke compared to the FX-2 series from AMD.

I still use Intel because I use my computer for multimedia more than gaming.

AMD Is currently Killing Intel. For Example you will find most web servers are moving away from the Dual Xeon to the new Dual Core AMD's.

=======================================================
AMD Opterons are blowing away P4 Xeons by a mile in performance and in performance to cost ratios!

Examples

http://www.gamepc.com/labs/view_cont...axville&page=9

50,000 user apache concurrency test

Intel Dual P4 3.0GHZ Xeon = 1043.7
Intel Dual P4 3.2GHZ Xeon = 1106.1
Intel Dual P4 3.4GHZ Xeon = 1155.6
Intel Dual P4 3.6GHZ Xeon = 1215.3
AMD Dual Opteron 248 = 1345.9
AMD Dual Opteron 250 = 1389.4
AMD Dual Opteron 252 = 1426.0
AMD Dual Opteron 265 dual core = 1587.3
AMD Dual Opteron 270 dual core = 1778.7
AMD Dual Opteron 275 dual core = 1874.6

http://www.gamepc.com/labs/view_cont...ron275&page=10

50,000 user apache concurrency test

Intel dual core 2.4ghz Xeon = 1099.8
Intel dual core 2.6ghz Xeon = 1171.3
Intel dual core 2.8ghz Xeon = 1199.4
AMD Dual Opteron 265 dual core = 1510.1
AMD Dual Opteron 270 dual core = 1686.6
AMD Dual Opteron 275 dual core = 1722.2
AMD Dual Opteron 280 dual core = 1968.2

Looking to compile some MySQL concurrency numbers but it's hard to find comparable reviews but Opterons show as much if not more improvement in mysql as in above apache concurrency tests [Image: biggrin.gif]

Amazing difference!

Check out pricewatch prices as at Dec 3, 2005 http://www.pricewatch.com/m-3.htm

$570 - xeon 3.6ghz 604
$395 - xeon 3.4ghz 604
$429 - xeon 3.4ghz 2mb 800
$245 - xeon 3.2ghz 800
$479 - xeon 3.2ghz 533
$262 - xeon 3.2ghz 2mb 800
$215 - xeon 3.0ghz 800
$355 - xeon 3.0ghz 533
$355 - xeon 3.0ghz 533
$186 - xeon 2.8ghz 800

vs

$1260 - opteron 280 2.4ghz
$1039 - opteron 275
$845 - opteron 270
$680 - opteron 265
$825 - opteron 254
$669 - opteron 252 -> better off with dual opteron 265 dual core cpus (4 physical cpus)
$441 - opteron 250
$275 - opteron 248 -> dual opteron 248 already kills dual P4 3.6ghz xeon cpus!
$219 - opteron 246
$174 - opteron 244

Seems price to performance a dual opteron 248 or 250 server would be enough to kill dual P4 3.6ghz xeon cpus for apache and mysql tasks.

===================================================

I think we should decide on a program that shows all the info such as ram, cpu, vid card etc and post screen shots to prove that people have what they say they do. With blizzsec open in the background :p

i know intels dual core is crappy tech, but they can use duct tape to hold 2 processors together, i wouldn't care. i never liked AMD after they ****ed me over. and my graphics card sucks but its way better than yours Wink its almost the same as a 6800 nvidia
i'll take some screnies of my system soon

I said sound card. Wink

And the 6800 isn't much of a boost from the 6600. The only BIG difference is the size of video RAM it gives you. Clock speeds aren't that muh higher.

dell lets u OC it up to 3.6ghz with just choosing an option in the BIOS, since i am only playin d2 and some other crappy old games i do not need the extra speed, plus with the bot running all night it makes my parents nervous with the heat it generates so i only have it that fast when i need it to be
