lol pentium 4 is not the best people. AMD processors are based on how much better they perform compared to pentium. Thats why they arent labeled by GHz because they can have lower GHz and FSB than pentiums but still be faster. AMD 64 makes pentium 4 look stupid.

i just got my new comp, Athlon 3000+, 2.0 ghz, overclocked to 2.35 ghz (liquid cooling, no temp change). and trust me, its running at about a pentium 4.0 ghz

but yes, you are right, they both are good processors, but personally, i perfer athlon

EDIT: make that 2.39 ghz overclocked (damn, a successful 390 mhz overclock WITHOUT A CHANGE IN THE TEMP TOO), only thing holding me back is my ram is only 2100, i'm gonna get som 2700 or 3200 soon, and then overclock as high as it will go(god i love water cooling)

I feel slow My comp is running on a Pentium 4 2.02ghz... NOOOO I'M BEHIND!!!!! Oh well I'll just go get an AMD 64 and put a jet fan cooler in my tower so I can overclock the sucker, along with the new geforece 6800 ultra vid card, and a new 200GB hdd to jam in my tower. Add to that 2GB of ram, heh...and some new neons to make it look as bad *** as it will be..yea...my computer.

you can't just go buy a processor and chuck it in your comp you would have to buy a new motherboard with socket 939 for amd athlon 64

Gefore 6800 Ultra runs better to me, and I know for a fact it WILL handle Doom 3 maxed and Half-Life 2 maxed because my friend has one and I saw it in action on both of those games.

not really the 9200 series is pretty out dated you can get ALOT better for your money

just to add don't get pulled into the RAM trap. keep in mind that the amount of RAM doesnt make a certain card better. for example a 256mb gforce 5200 will be blown away by a grforce 6800 128mb. the 6800 doesn't need 256 so it runs just fine the 5200 needs more because its a slower card.
