Socketing Help
#1
Hey all, i just found myself an Eth Zerker axe and was wondering if the recipe
for socketing is just pure luck or is there a way to be certain it gets 6 sockets?

Formula from Arreat Summit:

1 Ral Rune + 1 Amn Rune + 1 Perfect Amethyst + Normal Weapon = Socketed Weapon of same type
The number of sockets created will vary. The item must be normal and unsocketed. Low-quality items and superior items do not work. The item gets 1-6 sockets, randomly. However, the number of sockets is then restricted by the maximum number of sockets that base item with that ilvl can have. For example, if you have an item that can only have 2 sockets, there's a 5/6 chance of getting 2 sockets and a 1/6 chance of getting 1 socket.

Sorry if this is a nub question, but i just wanna know because ive seen plain eth zerkers go for 2 runes (sc nl) so there's gotta be a way to add 6 sockets to it, right?

Cheers.

From what I've heard, and remember that its been a while since I've played...You have a much better chance of getting 6 sockets if you did it in Hell, with a High lvl Character. That's what I was told, don't take my word as gold, but that's what the word was...I hope that can help. Smile

Magical and rare get 2 sockets max while uniqe and set get 1 socket. And there is no difference between hell larzuk and normal larzuk and neither does the lvl of the character matter. Pretty sure about this : O

Yeh i found it on arreat summit:

Act V: Quest 1: Add Sockets
You cannot use the Add Socket Quest reward on Socketed Items.

You can only add Sockets to items that allow Sockets.

Normal items add the max number of Sockets depending on the item's level (this is determined by the level of the monster that dropped it) and the inherent maximum number of Sockets for the item's base type. So you may not always receive the "max" number of Sockets.

Magic Items will receive 1 or 2 Sockets with probability of either assuming that they are possible given the rules for normal. So you'll either get 1 Socket or 2.

Set Items, Rare Items, Unique Items, and Crafted Items add 1 Socket (1 Socket Max).

ty everyone
