Quote:damn man thats a big mother but you would think that when they hear about a sunami coming that they would leave the coast

Dude thier is no warning against this in taht part of the world in fact it is the only place that does not have a tsunami warning system yet.

And the last report was about 123k, but the true death toll will not be known for quite awhile especially since so mnay bodies are going to simply wash away.

I think the government down there did as they shouldve done. In Asia they recieve a lot of earthquake warnings and most of them are false so evacuating several 100k people for a POSSIBLE earthquake is pointless imo. Now ofc, if the threat was like 75%+ positive about a big coming earthquake and the government chose to disregard it for the $$$, then we can start whining.

Frantic race to save millions of survivors

Toll soars past 120,000; aid pours in for 5 million left homeless

As relief efforts brought a glimmer of hope, the toll from the 9.0-magnitude earthquake and the tsunami it spawned rose to more than 120,000 on Friday, including about 80,000 deaths in Indonesia, though Health Minister Siti Fadillah Supadi said the toll there could hit 100,000.
