Remove Windows Firewall?
#1
Is there a way to remove the Windows Firewall that came with Service Pack 2? It keeps me from staying on D2 longer than about an hour at which time I have to reconnect and it drops me from StarCraft in about 2 mins after it starts a game. =\ I set it to allow the right ports and everything but still doesn't let me. =\ Rep for helping. =D

Windows Firewall doesn't keep you out of these games. I use it (and I have put D2, Wc3, and other games) on the exceptions list. After an hour I'm still playing. So it's a problem with something else.

it isnt the firewall. Service pack two reduces the amount of open ports and ports that can send on your computer. the only way is to re-install windows ive heard.

I have norton 2005, and it has worm protection that replaces it, I don't think the windows one should screw it up, did you click unblock when the popup came up?

IF you want to remove built-in Windows firewall, goto Start > Control Pannel > Security Center, click at the bottom where says Windows Firewall, then click Off

Ok, if it's not the Windows Firewall, what else could it be? And by the way, that just disables it... Which can often times make it worse.

So what you're saying is I have too many ports open or... What?

You could uninstall, Windows XP SP 2. And go back to Windows SP1.

OR

If you still have system restore aviable. You can restore back, to when your computer could play longer than one hour.
