Wow, I have been an AOL user for the past few years, 8 actually. My mom has always payed for it. We also have cable for those who wanted to know and...yes aol is slow and it does cap your internet speeed horribly, but it isn't that bad actually. I came from 56k and I am use the the slow speeds. One plus to AOL is, if you get a realm down on Diablo II, then all you have to do it sign off and then sign back on, it'll use a different IP/ICP everytime you log back into it, so..you have a new IP when you use AOL...it isn't all that bad.

So good point to take from Cat I would think is this, for botting use Aol on one comp and have fun and for regular playing use your cable. Correct?

I use aol to check email.. but never to search on there or anything.. as you said .. takes like forever to load.. wether its a brand new comp or not!!! LOL ..

AOL SUCKS! It sucks but it doesn't give you a virus..I had AOL for like 2 years while I was playing EverQuest. It wasn't the worst at playing games, just kinda slow loading new zones but downloading stuff off the old Kazaa was very slow..I have DSL now. DSL OWNS! AOL SUCKS!

i had AOL for a long while, it was pure torture...but once i figured out how to bypass the parental controls, things got better, and then i got DSL and things got great. what's sad is that no matter how many people hate and despise AOL, there's still millions of members. sadnesss....

i used aol for many 'a year, and it wasn't so bad becuse the warez/mp3 scene was OFF THE HOOK, but that was the only perk. after DSL was in my area, i switched over. i don't know what i'm capped at, but i usually get ~1120//320 KBPS(140//40 kb/s).. it's not the quickest ISP ever, but i don't lag and download music like a madman.

uploading doesn't lag me, either. i can upload at 40 kb/s and still download at 80 kb/s, and surf the net easily

only 80kb/s??? I max usually at ~360kb/s. On Bittorrent I can sometimes hit the 400-500kb/s, which is probably a fluke but all well thats what it says.

AOL just p!sses me off... period. Maybe if they didn't spend so much money on retarded commercials that are hardly funny and all say the same thing, they could improve their speed. But no, the insist on plaguing our televisions with old people and obsessive mothers and sending CDs that everyone uses... to keep drink rings off their furnature. It's just a terrible idea.
