Ok, I have been trying to test out a Poison Necro, and I must say, from what has happened so far, I'm extremely impressed.
First thing I wanted to do was kinda mimmick what Zon's and Sorc's do for PvP, and that was the Elemental Pierce and Elemental Mastery. I will break it all down right... down...
Here!!!
Gear:
Helmet -- Crown of Ages Corona (2 socketed): The one I did on Single Player to test was a perfect, but, alas, I'm still unsure of the one that is on the way to me. As long as resists are 25+, you shouldn't have too much more to worry about once you get it all setup. I socketed 2x 5-5 Poison Facets in this one. The Level or Die doesn't really matter, as a total of 7 5-5 Facets will be used.
Amulet -- The Amulet I have to use on him is, without a doubt, the best choice. I am going 29% Mara's, I would go 30, but I don't have a 30, so I will just stick with a 29. The +skills and resists will help in the long run.
Weapon -- With this particular build, it was between a 30 HOTO (since resists won't be too much of a problem with this necro) and Blackbogs. I think for the time being, I'ma stick with Blackbog's, hands down. Gives more to the essential skills than hoto does, plus if I have to turn melee, I can easily do that. I socketed a 5-5 Poison Facet in this one.
Armor -- Chains of Honor Dusk Shroud. I currently have a really shatty one that I made when I was scared the Ber and Ist that I had traded for were duped, so I made it into the first 4 socketed armor I found, which was a Non Sup Dusk with 460 defense. Resists play a vital role here, so nothing else would be a lot better.
Shield -- 20-20 Poison Shield. Again, doesn't matter what they are, Level or Die, but the 5-5 is vital, as if you are going PvP, you need to lower their resists, and if you are going PvM, you WILL run into Poison Immunes in places.
Gloves -- Trang's, hands... down... Ok, I know it seems pretty weak "Why Didn't You Go Magefists or something better with FCR" but I did this cuz you will have a total of 70% to Poison Skill Damage, so FYI, you just damn near doubled your damage from nova and dagger.
Ring 1 -- Everyone's "Old School" favorite, the Stone of Jordan. I used to call it the "Son of Jews" but, alas, my opinion has been swayed, cuz they are pretty high right now, higher than I've ever seen them, and they are worth every ist+um you pour into them.
Belt -- Funny and Good -- Bot was botting, and a few days ago, I wake up, look at d2jsp log, and notice [Unique]Spiderweb Sash, [Unique] Ceremonial Javelin, [Unique] Scarabshell Boots, [Unique] Russet Armor, [Set] Corona, [Unique] Mighty Scepter, and decided I'd sit down, check the Magic Find run from the previous night. So's I sit down, check it all out, and notice that it says, before unique [Failed to pick up, Inv Full] and FLIPPED... OUT! Anywho, changed the settings, next night I get on, find 2 Arachs, 115%+ in my Hammerdin's stash, so he made up for it. I went all out Arach's Here, cuz matched with Blackbog's, Slow's Target 60% if you have to melee them to death.
Ring 2 -- I know, SOJ, right? NEGATORY! I went Any % BK here, preferrably 5% just in case of melee, plus at level 82, you get 41 hp, which translates into a bit longer to die.
Boots -- Ethereal Sandstorm Treks, 15str/13+vit. The Strength plays a huge role in this build as well, since you need 174 to use the CoA, yea it might not be worth it, but I ain't complainin' at this point.
Skill Setup:
Ok, First off, I just wanna say... "DUH!" You max Poison Dagger, You max Poison Explosion, and you max Poison Nova. I went ahead and maxed Bone Armor, and put a few into Lower Resist just in case the -35% Poison Resist isn't enough, cuz at the level it is at now, it does -61% to all resists to cursed.
Stat Setup:
Of course, do enough to use the CoA and Blackbogs. CoA requires 174 strength, Blackbog's 88 Dex. After that, I went straight 3 points in vitality, 2 points in energy every level afterwards.
Inventory Setup:
I know it seems a bit expensive, but when you get as lucky as a certain friend of mine (message *shaggyclown or *lld-klownz, tell him I sent ya!), you tend to find stuff per Rush you do. On my last particular rush, my friend said to me, he says "You won't find anything with 120% mf on a hammerdin." Ok, what the shit was he smoking? I found 2x Poison and Bone Charms, plus re-rolled a Poison and Bone after he stated, and I quote "I haven't rolled a good skiller off this Baal GC yet, and its starting to **** me off. I really don't see you rolling something of an item level 88 GC." Well, Shit on it and Spin, I rolled another PnB. Pretty much, Inventory with 10 PnB GCs, as much with HP as you can get, go with Anni, and if you need any resists, go with either Small of Vitas that give them. Only resists I needed when all was said and done was 6 to fire and 6 to lightning.
There you have 'er. The Nova, at this point was doing 11k-11k, so not TOO impressive, but the dagger was doing 49k-51k, so it was definately worth it. I do NOT suggest using the Venom from Arach's, as it doesn't do anything but lower the Poison Dagger damage, and when you need it, you need it. Have fun, and did I mention, donate a rep if I helped you out at all.
PS: Also, if you need any help on any kinda character builds, I'm always revered by ones I know personally as the man who can do it. Feel free to e-mail me any questions on any character build, and I will have results back to you QUICK! Thanks, and happy leveling.
