New computer New Money Problem.
#1
Ok everyone. I have $1300 I would like to spend on a new computer. Any ideas on what to get?

I checked Alienware but it's $1000 out of reach since you have to buy the monitor seperate.
Link me to a computer under $1300 that you think is great and you yourself would buy.
Thanks to whoever tries to help me out.

Piece one together yourself, you can save about $400.00 that way. If you want the alienware, just use your old monitor.

Good site and not to expensive, of course like Chesh said it is cheaper to build your self.

If your not willing to build it yourself, or put this in the Tech Forum where it belongs *sighs*, then just get a Dell. I know they are the evil computer corporation and all that but you seriously can not build a computer for as cheap as they do. Just make sure to delete all the crap programs they infest your computer with once you get.

If he didnt say that, I would have. Dell has gotten so cheap that buying seperate parts actually costs more.Sad

Yup. The worlds largest internet search engine Google actually uses cheap Dell servers because they cost so little. About 100,000 low end Dell servers make up the Google search engine network.

Hmm... I am not getting a Dell because Dell is the devil. I guess I could keep drawing up new designs and selling them for some more money... I was going to make a custom computer but I have to find every single piece of which I will forget one or something.

My Design teacher keeps telling me to go Mac... Mac or Windows... Hard decision... Work or personal use... I was thinking the Mac OS X because that's what I use in Graphic Design class but then games would run like death slow. So I'm not sure I want that. I'll stick with Windows since I know it well. The only reason I'd even consider Mac is because my PC always freezes up when I'm modeling something and then there are major computer file missing errors. I use 3ds in 3d Model class on Mac. So that has to be a must so that I can get back to work on this game I've been working on. So far now we have 2 rooms. Smile It's hard with 3 people believe me! I'm just going with Windows. Keep giving me ideas though.

if you have to have that one program, then get a mac that is just video power, just needs to handle that 3d jazz. if you're looking for using a pc for it, any pc that you build correctly out of the stuff listed above wont crash because its sweet.

To clear up the Dell is devil thing dell is not the devil, Dell is the best name brand machine for gaming.
#17
Meh, Dell's getting some major discount from Intel for using their procs and only their procs in budjet systems. Also, order from a local store, great warranty and you *might* be able to coax them into a better price.
