Hey, im new around here, and i'm a noob to diablo too. I've been playing for only a few weeks, with my barbarian. I was throwing skill points all over the place! He's level 76 now, and well, he's just not very good. Then i decided i loved the look and feel of paladins. I started one of those, and got him up to level 55 in only a few days of being sick from school. I like B-hammer paladins a lot, and although they're prolly all over bnet, i still wanted one of my own. I screwed up the points with him too, and began to get unsatisfied with my results. Yesterday i went to the store and picked up the expansion pack. I am going to start a new, fresh paladin, and hopefully play him right this time! i was wondering if any veterans could help me chose my skills, lay a floorplan. I know Vigor and Blessed aim boost B-hammer, so i need to put points in there. I also want to get good with zeal too, because when i can't use B-hammer for any reason, i still want to be useful! if anyone has anything to help me, i'd much appreciate it.

I would put some into concentration or defiance. Those are 2 good skills

salvation is useful too.....foh and smite is good too.

y would u not need b hammer?? dont put more than a piont into salvation, ur skill sshould boost it to like lvl 12 and each lvl only gives it +1 res that high

I was thinking i'l save my skill points when i first start leveling up, and put them into vigor and blessed hammer. Once i am level 18 i'll boost my B-hammer as much as i can, and once i get that done, i think i'm gonna put the rest into fanatism. I was wondering though, what boosts your damage more, fana or concentration? but anyhow, i'll have 20 points bhammer, 20 points fanatism, 20 points vigor, 20 points blessed hammer. I THINK that's as much damage i can add to b-hammer. Help is much appreciated.

no dude use concentration not fant, after u max those put some points into holy shield and defiance because 1.10 is vital to have some defense unlike in 09

So concentration IS better, i always thought fana was. Anyhow, do you think it's really worth putting 20 skill points a piece into vigor and blessed aim. I know it boosts your bhammer a lot, so that was gonna be my plan. The thing i was wondering (to lazy to look it up) does holy shield have to be selected to work? Becuase i'm gonna have to use b-hammer in for left click, and concentration for right click..... ANother ****** question, how do i increase my resistances, besides jewels and ammy's. I know that salvation does, but i dont' want to have that, because i'll be using concentration so much anyhow. Is there another way?

do the quest i believe its anya quest that gives restance and socket a shield w/ perf diamonds easy peesy

lol ur so funny skarz, dude, u only have to hit hs once and then switch to concentration, and for ur resis, its all about the gear, simple as that, esp zaks wich gives 50 to all resis

also yes, u should max the synergies and concentration for ur char, then max hs...

Ok heres a good hammerdin build:
For Skills:
20 B.Hammer
20 Vigor
20 Blessed Aim
20 Concentration
Remainder of points into Holy Shield
For Stats:
Enough into Str to use gear (let's say 110 you can use just about any think you need to at this lvl)
You might want to put enough points into Dex to max block (always helps in player vs monster)
Vit after your done with Str and Dex all goes here
Nrg you should be able to get away with base I know I could but I've been playing for a long time, so let's say 50 points just to make it easy on you
Hope this helps i'll get the Dex req for max block with at least lvl 5 Holy SHild

Another big plus is i've found a bone shield, defense of 90, 50% chance to block. now that's not all that good, but imbued it, now i got defense 187, chance to block 75%, so i don't get hit all that often. It's working good so far. I'm going to start an expansion character as soon as i get ungrounded. I'm not sure if i like the assasin or druid yet, their skills seem weird to me still. But anyhow, thanks for the paladin help. I really like Zeal to though  so idk what to do. I figure zeal could help because B-hammer isn't always so good.
** Oh yea, i was wondering, is there another powerful attacker besides B-hammer? Looking through the strategy guide (successfully stolen from my cousins dorm) i saw that zeal combined with vengeance looked like some good stuff. I was thinking i could use that and a periodical "Fist of Heaven".... maybe zeal and concentration would work too. Everything i've seen for power attacks is b-hammer and concentration, but is there another way? **

That Paladin would die to often you have to be dedicated to one type and if your not don't plan on killin any think but yourself. (this is not a flame just helpin a nub =\.)

skarz, my venger pally is lookin pretty good so far, he does descent dmg and he's not even done yet, here is his build so far with gear on:
20 resis fire
17 REsis cold
16 Resis light
8 Vengance
24 Holyshield
17 Conviction
10 defiance(gotta have that extra defense  )
my resis are 80/75/75/75 without using GA, with ga they are: 95/90/80/85, prettty tite isnt it, those resis are on hell too
i do like 3.8k dmg w/o conviction wich would equal like 7k with convic i think

Do you think holy shield is worth it? I figured it would be sweet because i need defense if i'm gonna be up there hacking away.

lol ur crackin me up skarz, of course hs is worth it, max blocking is a must in hell in 1.10, also it adds a really nice boost to defense, plus if u put into the synergy defiance it also adds good defense, right now on my venger pally, i have like 13k defense and max blocking BUT STILL TAKE DMG in ACT 1 HEll, i also have almost max resis.......this shows how hard hell is now(gay blizz)....so yes hs is A MUST for all pallies

must for pally is hs and conv is good for hammer pally but not so good for zeal well thats if your not pvp a group always wants more bonuses.. dam mooches
