Human Brain VS a PC

Damn, that is intresting.

I was always one to think the brain > computer.
04-04-2005, 10:41 AM
Yes, same here. Brains will always overpower copmputers. After all, humans make computers. And humans have brains.

That is interesting. Good find, Chesh. Point of notice- Has it been said/Are we believing that the human brain isn't currently growing in power and MIPS? The thing is that while I'm a believer in the brain, logic says that time will give the computer processor a chance to eventually catch up. Regardless (well, almost regardless) of the gap between them, something that's increasing will catch something that isn't increasing if given time. So watch out. Lol.

The truth is given enough time we will invent ourselves out of existence. human brain < computer in the end.

Amen to that---
but i hope i die first.

um true we may out invent our selfs, but dont forget that even though it is slow we are evloving even now, we can see such evolutions in the form of cancer... while it is hard to belive that cancer is a form of evolution it is.... so we are ever evolving and maybe we will evolve so that we do not invent our selfs out of exsistence

So you're saying we may grow as fast as computers and catch up or something? Impossible. Are you saying then that we might become more mature and realize how stupid it'd be to invent ourselves into obsolescence? As long as there's power involved, man will continue to be greedy. We'll do it someday. Stupid greed.

Cancer isn't a form of Evolution either. Its a disorder caused by Waste; Such as gasses, And polution. Dont forget the sin sticks either. ![]()

***** Wrote:Evolution kinda went down the shitter when we started using tools. Yeah, you've got a point. I never thought of that.

cancer is... its a morphing of the cells due to a warping caused by external, internal or cells that are just plain "different" due to how it was created
04-05-2005, 05:42 AM
Its hardly evolution, I mean. Evolution changes in such a way that it kills the subject itself? If you think Cancer is evoulotion, your wrong. Cancer = Death. Now we cant evolve when we are dead can we ? Basically, Cancer Diverts Energy away from the Afflicted person, Its more like an advanced Parasite.

They're called cancer sticks, and hopefully man's arrogance will some day realise that they need to stop advancing. But probably not...

B!tch Wrote:Evolution kinda went down the shitter when we started using tools.Cancer is mainly caused because of genetics. Everybody has cancer cells in their bodies. Although environmental influences can help cause cancer, the main thing is whether you are born with more or less of a resistance to having your cancer cells start abnormally reproducing. Also the main reason why you aren't seeing evolution in humans is due to time. Humans have been around for about 200,000 years. Look at the first humans. No taller than 4 ft or so, much more hair on their bodies, more of a hunch in their walk, etc. Evolution is still occuring today in humans, however it is because of our brain and how it makes us capable of manipulating our environments that evolution in humans does not need to make a drastic change. Maybe a nuclear winter lasting thousands of years, or an ice age lasting thousands of years, etc...would cause a much more drastic change in future humans. But for now, our tools have slowed evolution simply because it is not required at drastic levels for survival.

well the brian is also better becouse it has the ability to change and be unpredictable unlike computers which just do what there told

yea i think we only use like 30% of our total brain.... but thats what i have heard. its intresting in the fact that we dont use it all, the brain is so fragile though; a bump can damage you for life
04-05-2005, 10:58 AM
humans dont really evolve in the fashion as other animals have. we more of adjust and evolve through our inventions. ex. many plagues sicknesses and diseases have killed off lots of the human race but those who have survived have become immune and as the saying goes only the strong survive

my opinion is that in the end computers will become more powerful than the human brain
those of you who argue that people cant create something like a computer that is smarter than a brain are right however, dont you think that eventually computers will have the jobs of designing and creating computers? thus creating mechanical evolution with or without the help of the human mind? |
