Does anyone here know:
Are Slipknot, Meshuggah, and Lamb of God overtly Satanist? I can't tell really by their lyrics, and I want to know so I can keep listening to them or stop, since I don't really dig listening to Satanic lyrics as a Catholic. Thanks. If you don't know, don't post...please...

Yeah, but the thing is that they're enigmatic lyrics. They talk about darkness and hate and destruction...Just not The Dark Lord or anything straight up Satanistic...

Just a quick side note, I'd like to point out that satanism actualy isn't to do with Lucifer, Luciferianism is actualy about The devil.

I've listened to Meshuggah, but just for the guitaring..The lyrics arent that evil to stop listening to. If you like it listen to it.

ive listened to slipknot, the only pratical use i can think of for it is annoying my parents so they dont watch what im doing when im on the computer. no i dont think their overly satanic, but then again, i cant understand them that well

O ya, Slipknot Duality's lyrics are the only one I know and they are both good and not
not good because I hate blood and veins....lol
they're good because life is a pain sometimes........:confused:
But I don't think you should stop listening to a band because of lyrics......they might be "satanic" or w/e but if guitar drums, etc is good.......listen to it.....

truly i think that slipknot is satanic cause of what chesh said and because of there sign and stuff hmm like my bro has a poster of them and the background is the star and then they have a goat in the song left behind so i am pretty much basing them under the stat as satanic
but like hurly said i listen cause of the heavy metal it gets me pumped before football games and then i am a christen too but i still listen to music like this cause i belive if he did not want us to listen to them he would kill them right now??

Correct me if I'm wrong. Satan worship being all satan esque with the devil and all of that scary ritual cult shit. Satanism would be believing that you are your own god, you rule yourself and no one else has the power to tell you what's up. or something?

Satanism is a religion centered around yourself. Commonly, in Satanic rituals, lines like 'All hail Satan, my lord and god,' are chanted, but Satan is just a word to them; you could replace Satan with Myself and it would have the same meaning. Satanism has nothing to do with worship of the devil or anything thereof, and frankly, Satanism is the exact opposite of what you're trying to avoid.
I have a quick question, though. Why do you think that they are Satanist? The names of the bands, the overall tone of the music, or the actual lyrics? Lamb of God was once known as Burn the Priest. They are not the most religion friendly band on the planet. Actually, they aren't religion friendly at all. Corey Taylor has been known to detest organized religion. I'm not too big on Meshuggah, but my god, they put on one hell of a show a few Ozzfests ago.
If you're going to base your musical opinions on the lifestyle choices of the actual musicians, you should probably put down all forms of music. Many musicians in the 'hard rock//metal' genra(not to be overtly stereotypical, although that's exactly what I'm doing) lean towards being Agnostic, Athiest, or just flat out unaccepting of other religions. It shows in the band's lyrics, too. Beyond religion, many musicians also have habits that are looked down upon by many sects of the Catholic church, and religion in general. Partying and wild groupie sex comes to mind.
In conclusion, don't base your opinions on a band by their personal preference. If you're "open-minded," enough to chance your own opinions based on a musician's personal choices, mabye music isn't what you should be into. Take that as you will, but come on. If you're hellbent on dropping certain acts because of your religion and the conflicts peoples opinions may pose on it, it would be fairly safe to drop those three bands indefinitely.

yeah, i agree too. music is just music after all. most metal bands dont even mean it... its like writing a book you know? thats what slayer said when i met them... they all listen to jazz. and support lamb of god!!! they rock!!
