Socketing Question

If I do the socket quest on an eth colossus blade, thats not magic or anything, how many sockets does it give me?

Taken directly from Arreat Summit:

Normal items add the max number of Sockets depending on the item's level (this is determined by the level of the monster that dropped it) and the inherent maximum number of Sockets for the item's base type. So you may not always receive the "max" number of Sockets.

I'm almost 100% positive that with the socket quest (only if done in HELL difficulty) adds the max amount of sockets. I think that Jedi's information is for the socket recipe, unless I'm very mistaken.

To activate this quest, talk to Larzuk the Blacksmith, and he will tell you that you have to prove yourself by killing Shenk. He will be found towards the end of the Bloody Foothills, surrounded by minions. Return to town, and Larzuk will socket an item for you. Like the Charsi's Hammer quest in Act I, you can wait and socket your item later in the game, if you desire. He will add the maximum number of sockets possible to the item you give him. You cannot use any of these items: already socketed items, rune word items, items that don't allow sockets (belts, rings, gloves, amulets).Magic items will receive 1 or 2 sockets;, Uniques, Set, Crafted, and Rare items will get 1 socket added.

both sources were good, now put the info together. Larzuk will give you the maximum amount, but the ilvl determines the max.

you can get max sockets in any difficulty, ju st make sure the item is a plain colored item, not magic or rare, ect.

Yuh, if you do the quest for an item that can have 6 sockets (like an eth cb) it will give you 6 sockets no matter what difficulty you're in, it just has to be plain.
