Well, D2 plus expansion is only 20 Euros, so not more than 25 dollars.
I recently started playing again, and I must say, all the new stuff with synergies and new runewords is great, but there are a lot of spambots, noobs asking for free items in random games and more of that stuff.
I'd say, that if you can live with those beggars, try it, get a friend to play, and you'll have a great time.
And if you decide to play, try to do the entire game with your first character, no rushes.
It's what I did, and I had a lot of fun doing it, even though I was slow as **** and my fire sorc didn't make it past lvl 66

Let old habits remain good memories. It has changed from legit players having fun on a server to a bunch of stupid noobs prancing around games saying, "pwr lvl me pleez if not u r a noob LoL u noob i pwn j00 lol rofl lol omg lol" and generally ruining the fun of the game entirely. Don't get readdicted...it's not worth it.

hardcore has gay people killing you by behind........
same for nkers in random games or pk games........
everybody try to sell their items like 15x it's price and you can't find anything on trades........people are cheap
lots of spambots and nobody helps for free anymore..........
Also, lot of people use hacks, bugged items and talk like sh!ts......
( rofl.....0mG........... I r the pwnzor..............hahah I won da dule!!!!! )
( An assassin townguarding on you like 4vs1 when you're naked and then he thinks that he's good....... )
I'd say it's not worth to start d2 again.......
If you really want to play a MMORPG, try an other game......
EDIT : Or play it singleplayer but then, it's boring because you can't pvp with friends or you can't get good items without cheating........

Well that's why we're here. To save your ***, lol. And I do think that to a certain degree, until you become an addict, Single Player is fun. I played single player for a loong time, before I discovered B.Net, then the shit hit the fan and I was done. Stick with Single Player if you do play...a lot more fun for a "beginner" per se.

Tc/Ip games are good for addicts to if you have 7 good friends within your time zone. And when regular D2 gets boring you can always try some mods (unofficial versions), the main programmer behind patch 1.10 made the game rather modding friendly and therefore in the future you can expect mods that are wary far from the original game. Total conversion mods take a wary long time to make but there are a few btea version out there already, one day you might even be blowing bad boys away with a big shotgun in a d2 enviroment

definetly quit with the good memories. this new patch has gone to shit. newbs EVERYWHERE dont understand shit but that they want frees and think everyone wants to give, everyones an asshole, theres so many dumb newbass scammers who think they know what theyre doing... let it fade off as a good memory cuz living in the current economy and current d2 world it makes me despair thinking back to the good ol days of 09
