error 998

hey, my friend has d2jsp and whenever it tries to start, he gets error 998. he does not use d2loader and has no plugin folder. i used crackalacka.exe to make his key file. does anyone know what could be causing this error?

I got that error once. I realized that i forgot to insert the Diablo II CD into the cd-drive :p

maybe he gave you his expension cd key instead of the original, that is error means that the prog kant find the right key for the game
