Changing IP's ???

I know you can change ip's with a lan connection or wireless but does anyone know if you can do it with a cable modem?? IF so how??? That would be the best way to get rid of realm downs really. Since when you get a rd its your ip that is blocked and not your cd key

dude check it out. d2event *think* *its a website* *u cant jsut type it in go search for it on a search engine* .net
they have a program where ye can get no more r/d's anymore by connecting to such servers etc. n w/e. havnt tryed yet. but i trust the website.

i have dsl and run windows xp and everytime i restart my comp my ip changes on its own

I saw a way to et of Rd's a long time ago on a d2 forum... all it does is changes your Ip... i had the guide written up somewhere's....

1. Start >Run > Type "cmd"
2. In the box, type "ipconfig /release"
3. Start > Control Pannel > Network Connections. Right click local area connection and press properties
4. Double Click on "Internet Protocal (TCP/IP)
5. Check the box "use the following Ip address" and enter 10.1.1.1 into the IP address box and also check "use the following DNS server addresses",
6. Now click in the rest of the text areas, but do not type anything.
7. Now re-do Steps 3-4 but check the box "obtain Ip address automatically" & "obtain DNS server automatically"

Well first off i know about the router thing, if you unplug the power cord to a router and that you dont have a fixed ip you have a good chance at get a new ip note it dosent work all the time. And I know I can use a proxy but i dont know how to use a proxy, Now I've heard about that neet trick that the other guy wrote but couldnt remember it and dont know if it does work. BTW people I dont have dsl and I cant get it here, I GOT CABLE!! So I guess I'll have to try out that trick but dosent that take the ip of someone else? cause if it does my suplier WILL cut my internet. so if that trick dont work the only other choice would be to buy myself a router Oh and my supplier CAN change my ip if I ask him too but it costs me 15$ :'(

You need to be directly connected to your cable modem, no routers or
switches in between you and the cable modem.

Go to your Network Connections and double click the connection you
use for the internet. There should be two tabs, General and Support.
Under the Support tab, hit the Details button. WRITE ALL the
information down except the "physical address" which is your MAC
address. Set this asside for later use.

Now go back to the General tab and hit the Properties button. In the
window that comes up, scroll down to and double click "Internet
Protocol (TCP/IP)" or whatever looks closest to that. In the windows
that comes up, change your IP config from "Obtain an IP address
auto" to "Use the following IP address".

Enter in the information you wrote down into each field. Nothing
should be left blank. Now hit OK, and close the properties. Leave
the first box up (the Status Window)

Now if you need to change your ip address simply go into there, and change the last number within your ip. (Note that if you change your ip, the one you are trying to use may already be in use.) In this case, change the last two digits, or try a new number.
