Amd Vs. Intel
#1
Well, the thread name describes it. I personally prefer AMD.
#2
Seeings on how I've only used Intel's I'll have to vote for them.
#3
AMD costs a bit more than Intel, but i like AMD better, cuz they are faster also.
#4
they are not faster, they are just over clocked. just buy a p4 and a few extra fans and your p4 will run better then any other amd with same core speed. but then amd has that pesky 64 bit technology.
#5
Depends on what your use of them is:
AMD - Gaming
Intel - Multimedia

AMD 64 kills the closest equivalent Intel.

Thats not correct.... AMDs cost less usally when you get them with a motherboard.

Right now THE best processor to have is the A64 4000+. Its realitvely cheap, it multitasks AND plays games like a pro. Okay...so you wont be able to compress a dvd and render at the same time as fast as a high end intel but you WILL have also saved about $300-$400 which you can THEN put towards a kick a$$ graphics card, more/faster ram, a new motherboard OR a really awesome case like a CoolerMaster Stacker.

For now the winner is AMD hands down. You just can not build a comperable Intel system for the same price or cheaper. But the real test will be in about 2yrs when more apps and games take advantage of 64bit tech AND dual core technology. Then the real men will show themselves.

Like almost everyone else said, I perfer AMD. Pretty much all I use my computer for is gaming and going on the internet so...AMD processors work best for me. =D

my A64 3000+ works fine for anything i do........i benchmarked it, and have scored higher then an A64 3200+(cause i o/c'ed mine), against intel....well......it benchmarks higher then a 3.4 Ghz.

My next system though is gonna have a FX55, and dual 7800GTX's.........incase you dont know, the FX55 means its as fast as an intel 5.5Ghz, and a single 7800 is as good as SLI 6800Ultra's......getting it in a month or so

for the ultimate for multimedia and multitasking......i wont beat a mac G5, dual 2.7Ghz, up to 8 GB's of ram......1.25Ghz FSB per processor, and incase ya dont know, G5 processors are 64Bit

edit: BTW, Draicoon, if you havnt noticed, AMD dont have the same core speed as Intel, for example.......an AMD 3000+ has a core speed of 2 Ghz, but its called a 3000+ because its speed matches a 3Ghz P4.........AMD's closest chip is the FX57, which runs at a core speed of 2.8Ghz, and the 57 in its name means it would take a 5.7Ghz P4 to match it.

G5 proc's are impractical. If apple cant put the proc in a laptop, which they realized they couldn't, then the proc's about as good as a pile of shit. Dont worry though because apple is moving to the x86 architecture(SP?) in 2006.

This means by '07 OS X will be avialable for use on your everyday windows computer. Which is THE best computer news this year by far. We could finally see a REAL competitor to windows. (Sorry Linux/Unix users I know you love your OS but in reality the public just isn't savy enough to use most of your products yet. Maybe in 10yrs or so eh?)

there making so much money off the G4 series still(in laptops), why put the G5 in a laptop now when u can wait and make even more money later..........simply put, there is no single processor that can stand up to the G5....Virginia Tech had the 3rd fastest server when it was made, it was about a third of the speed of the fastest, and about an 8th of the cost.....IMO apple moving to x86 will be one of the best things that is gonna happen to mac, cause it will allow most games to be played(or ported) to the mac, and people will realize how much better the mac is.......and where you say sorry linux/unix users......unless you dont know.......mac is on a unix shell.......so the only ones to feel sorry for is linux........which linux or unix is both more stable and safe then any windows OS.......also.......bill gates put stock into mac a little while ago.......why would he do that if mac is one of his rivals? cause he knows mac is better........for 1 its a lot more stable and powerful........and for 2, he lets multiple companies sell MS products, whereas only apple sells apple products, therefore apple makes more money. Did you know Gates used a G5 to show the XBox360 video's at the E3 or w/e its called?

I have NO IDEA wtf you just said. Re-write please.

<----highly tempted to remove all together.
