AMD. intel is more intended for one, high powered process, maybe two or three. AMD is used for more processes, more stable, so more of my kind of thing. speed demon vs. powerhouse...AMD.

Actually, I believe Intel is focusing on multi-tasking, as that's what their HT technology was made for.

Both have their uses.
Intel is a video/picture editing along with extreme multitasking AMD is great for games and the far more casual PC user who doesnt want to spend a litteral fortune on a PC while still having good performance. Lags a little on the multi-tasking end but for the most part holds its own for those who dont fill their taskbar or have CPU gobbeling applications.

I'm afraid that the FX-55 shows off Intel's brand new 3.8GHz chip in almost all editing tasks. Plus, I'm sure four dual-cored Opterons will show off anything that Intel's Xeons can throw at them.

Hmmm people will still use and should use Intel for image, video and music editing. AMD's lime light all comes from the extrordinary gaming performance. Beyond that I cant seem to find any recent news comparing the new 3.8 and FX-55 all the news I have found is between the 3.46EE and FX-55. Link to the FX-55 vs. P4 3.8 please.

Read Maximum PC. They've got the benchmarks to prove it. Also, both chips cost nearly 1000$ each.

I havent read the new Maximum PC yet but the performance increase from FX-53 to FX-55 just wasnt that much. I just cant see how the FX-55 would have suddenly jumped over intel in video and music encoding.
