The GTA Scandal
#21
I fail to see how I was wrong.

It was originally built in the game, just disabled. The code was ALWAYS in GTA: SA, just laying dormant. I got the impression you thought that some kid totally made this mod up. That's not the case. Sorry if that's not what you meant

The "Hot Coffee" mod and the 17 /18 change to age difference really won't make a differeince IMO. Either way, kids'll get their hands on it and the ignorant parents will still do nothing. That, and the other half of American's parent will ground their children.

xDBD Wrote:In my opinion, the big deal here isn't the parenting. Yeah, San Andreas has MILD accounts of sex and sexual themed parts modless. However, there was NO trace of actual intercourse in the real game. The big deal is parents got this game for kids, probably knowing how violent and curse-ridden it is(who doesn't by now??) but semi-clean on the porno side. Rockstar basically HID this from the ESRB. And Mr. Fab, your sources are actuall wrong...

It's not an actual "mod" in the sense that it adds/changes coding of the game. The codes for this have always been in the game. Any programmer knows there's unsed coding in a project. Sometimes, you remove it for its useless-ness, sometimes you don't. Rockstar apparantly made this feature for their personal "enjoyment," but basically disabled it when the game got released. Some kid found this unused code in the MODDED XBOX AND COMPUTER(good luck getting blown on your PS2.. can't happen lol) and simply made a patch to activate it.

The big deal here isn't some mod that makes gameplay dirty.. it's more of a patch that makes a dirtier game even worse. A part of a game that was ALWAYS there, just hidden. And honestly, truth be known, Rockstar never really intended for the game to be played with this feature. Nobody wants an AO rated game. Nobody carries the goddamned things. The local videostore doesn't even keep the playboy game on the shelves. You gotta ask for it.. Where's the business in that? As many 18+ year olds play GTA, it's probably safe to say 5x more children play that game. Parents(god, I hope they wouldn't) buy an adult rated game, and stores damn well better not sell them an adult rated game.

See where I'm going? The parents really aren't to blame in this spot IMO and neither are rockstar IMHO. Whoever uses this mod.. it's their choice. I'd put my money Rockstar never wanted anyone to play this mod, and they did their best (short of deleting the void code) to hide it. After seeing (not using, but seeing videos) of this mod, it's not a big deal. You see cyber ****. So what? Google monkey porn, you get 500x worse results

I don't think anyone could say it better, its not the kids fault or the designer of the game, manufacturer or even the mod makers, its the parents fault for letting the kids play it.

^You cant blame the parents because they dont always know where there children are playing, if i go in my room and play gta my mom is not going to sit there and monitor what im playing. And if a parent did happen to walk in and ask what i am playing what is stopping me from lieing, how would they know if it is gta or barney goes to school.

well if a parent REALLY did care about what their children are playing, they would know the games they are buying.

Most parents see no problem in cursing and violence. Cyber sex, which was hidden and never evaluated by the ESRB, is the issue at hand. Parents are at fault 99% of the time with violent games, but this time I raelly don't see where parents screwed up. GTA isn't that bad of a game, assuming you have a little maturity on your side.. modded though, it's downright nastay. I doubt I would mind my kids seeing a little cybersex, though.. you know all 15 year old males (hell, females too truth be known) think about is getting laid.

I think that it ins't the game still. People play D and D and not alot of them actually run around killing and casting spells. Just the freaks that do make news and scare half the country.

The parents are at fault definitly, not because of the games...in most cases, but because they make their kids crazy bye not taking care of them and other stuff. I live near a really poor city and most of the kids are like that. Give them something to fuel their immagination than they are going to hurt someone

Bottom line=the parents are totally at fault on this kind of stuff.

Noo

I am saying the parents aren't taking care of kids, causing them to turn to other things to tell them what is right and wrong.

That is what I meant....

well my parents dont care. and i got the game when i was 17~!... any younger they still wouldnt care i would have my hands on the game no matter wut.

hell. kids just need to be taught that from right and wrong. and things from the game arnt real nor should even be copy cat'd from the game...
