xDBD Wrote:well that's cool if you enjoy playing licks at superfast speeds but only sounding a quarter of the notes.

and i ahte to say it, but your domination solo mp3. if you would play those licks at about.. 1/4 gain or so, you wouldn't be able to hear most of the notes

Sad

play it slow, work your way up. jumping right in at a million miles an hour does nothing but build bad habits and helps you hide behind gain. that's just my two cents

well, that, and if you have to rely on speed to say something on guitar, to me that says alot... but again, that's my opinion. you never hear warren haynes or eric clapton play riffs at james hetfield speed, but they say just as much. speed is a biproduct of accuracy, not vica versa

That's your opinion, and I respect that. Personally, starting off with speed has worked for me. I know my Domination solo isn't perfect, but I'm still working on it. I don't play with speed while I practice, but I try to make it sound as close as I can to the real speed when I record. I realize that it wasn't ready to release, but there's nothing I can do now. I practice as much as time will allow.

Warren Haynes and Eric Clapton are great guitarists, but they have different styles from James Hetfield or Dave Mustaine. I know I'm nothing like any of them, and I'm not trying to be. Learning the way I have been has worked, in my opinion, for me and I will continue to practice.

However, I really appreciate that 1/4 gain tip you gave me over MSN. I think I will actually practice like that more often, but still with near-speed to what it's supposed to be.

And Cooleo, shut the **** up. You're a fag.

You guys talking about SPEED n ACCURACY....... I'm not soo good on both....lol

You know some exercices or pratiques or w/e I could do to be better in SPPED and ACCURACY ( it can be diff exercice for each of them , it's ok too Big Grin )

For accuracy, something slow like Metallica - Fade to Black might work out for you. It helped me out pretty well.

The only thing I can really say is practice everything you can. Try songs you don't think are possible for you to learn and you'll actually surprise yourself.

I consider myself lucky that I have tons of guitarists in my family... it runs in my blood. Just something I was able to pick up one day and have a little of the basics done for me already, you know?

nice playing dude but when are u gonna upgrade to dean, i mean get a dime signature guitar(i got one and i play it more than my gibson sg or my randy rhoads jackson and the distortion on it sounds like a dream). gain was awsome, too much tone though, were u using any pedals?

also u said thaT u started to bleed while playing the solo, wut strings do u use, i mean ive played some pretty fast solos and i dont even use the pick and ive never started to bleed

it's the second or third time i've heard of him bleeding. i don't see how he bleeds if he plays a quarter as much as he says he does. i can barely feel my fingers fret notes on mid-jhigh action guitars, and on low action guitars(see: most all electrics, i always set my guitars to a higher action) i don't feel it.

i guess he rips his callouses off on purpose

I'm getting a Dean this year sometime, actually. I understand that the Dime models are really high quality. Actually, I've played them all, and I can tell you that they are. I actually work for Dean (Street Team) so I get discounts on guitars with a special voucher. I'll get something soon.

Yeah, my fingers get cut up alot. It's my fretting hand that has the problem. What usually happens is the 1st or second string find a rough edge on my callouses (I play at a weird angle when I solo, because of the heel of my guitar's neck) and rip them off when I try to pull off or slide. It's annoying as hell, man.

My callouses are constantly being ripped or degraded. Never play with your hands wet, I had to learn the hard way. The water gets into your pores and softens the callous, making it easier to flake off.

I'm looking at a 79' Dean right now, most likely an ML, like Dime played. I've played the 79' V's and I can say that they're absolutely incredible guitars. I look forward to getting one.

K thx.... I'll try that........ Btw, I may seem a bit stupid but you playing that with fingers 1 2 3 4 ......right??? or you just use 1 2 or 1 2 3 ..... ^_- ???

Well, I looked on mxtabs and it seems long and a bit hard....... ( Master o. P. )

You know some easier song??? lol
I mean, a song for starters.....

( Pant or xDBD or whoever plays guitar can answer this ^ ^ )

Btw, When I slide it makes like 2 sounds in a row rly fast...... ( a bit like if I did a pulloff or hammered string )
Do I do something wrong or is it normal???
Because slides in songs I hear sounds like only one note going down ( or up )....... and my slides sounds more like pulloff or hammering.......

Help me plz.

Thx......:wacky:

( sorry for being a bit dumb )

[EDIT]

O yea ..... Btw, I'm playing on a '' Godin Freeway Classic '' with a '' Laney HCM15R '' ampli.........

are you talking about leads or like a whole song hurly?

no the point is to use all four fingers in awkward patterns and to play them and build up speed and dexterrity and accuracy. play it slow until you can play it fast.

easy songs=any black sabbath song. they're all power chord driven.

a slide is essentially a slur. so yeah. you're doing them fine. it should sound like one note slid into another.

You shook me all night long is fun to play in the beginning. And you could probably do stairway by now. Crazy train main riff is easy too.
Reply

crazy train solo isn't that complex if you practice your chromatics and pentatonics alot.. and most all metal players probably do, like a religion

but it's really good at wowwing people, as cliche as crazy train is now

yeah. the intro to you shook me all night long is great to use on anything

tabs blow, for the record. learning the songs by ears helps improvising and your chops, you also get a feel for where the notes are on the neck. i only use tabs, really, to see how others play it, after i got my version worked out

or if i absolutely can't ear a riff
