So what do u think about the trailer for the new Final Fantasy and someone know some rumors about when will it be released ?

If you mean FF XII I believe it's not till next year.

This is the anime discussion, so obviously its about Advent Children. Japan's already got it I think, but the U.S won't getting it until this Holiday season I think.

Then you need to play VII...cause the story is awsome. 1-7 are good and 9-10 are ok but the rest blow.

The movie comes out in Japan on the 14th I believe and was originaly set for release on the 13th for North America. Recently though Nomura has said that they never officialy announced a North American release date, despite that it says the 13th at the end of the English trailer, and now people are saying November.

Well ethier way, we arent getting the OVA "Final Fantasy VII Last Order" that comes packaged with the FFVII AC Limited Edition.

Which really pisses me off. I wish they would market to the U.S. all the goodies they give to their Japanese fans. How come U.S. fans didn't get the Cloud vs. Sephiroth cut scene in Kingdom Hearts? Damn you Square-Enix...why did you change on us. Squaresoft was so much better. Seriously, look at the number of GREAT games Squaresoft put out compared to Enix. In my opinion FFX and Kingdom Hearts are the only games Enix has put out that are worth playing so far.

I don't wanna get into the Square vs. Enix arguement, but Square has made it a habit for a long time to basically screw the US out of any extra content they include for a re-release of a game, but try to cover up by giving the US stuff the Japanese didnt get the first time around. Just complete the game and give everyone the same damn game, thats how it should be.

But just so you know, Square-Enix is the same as the SquareSoft we all know and ethier love or hate, but they are merged with Enix and release their games together. The actual producers and directors that do all the work havent changed, thus why Square's "tradition" continues.

By the way, Final Fantasy X and Kingdom Hearts were both released BEFORE Square and Enix merged. Also, I'd like if you would do some actual research on Enix, they have a really good history of making many great games and rpgs. They were practically Square's only competition in the market.

I meant as Square-Enix. And if it's Squaresoft why do my copies of those games say Square-Enix on them? I'm sorry ever since Enix came in I have seen a decline in the quality of Square games. Also, Enix has a reasonable amount of control of the content of the games now and that's what I don't like. The only reason they merged is because the first movie completely screwed Square when it bombed.

Well, the US has seen a number of reprints of older SquareSoft titles, and they all now bare the SquareEnix logo. Every game before 2003 was all SquareSoft.

What really caused the decline in Square titles is Square's focus to cash in on their biggest franchises (Final Fantasy 7, Kingdom Hearts), it's not really the merger itself, but just rather the Square's focus on its franchises rather than making completely new original games, although even before the merger, Square's original titles werent all that great, remember The Bouncer?

But yeah, pretty much the only reason why Square merged is due to the massive amount of money they lost from the Final Fantasy:Spirits Within movie, and Enix of course would agree because it would mean more promotion for them, as well as getting their games released outside of Japan much easier because the Square name is so huge worldwide.

Most gamers feel safe with a franchise they know works. I think it's doing those side projects like The Bouncer and such that is decreasing the quality of thier work. Then cashing in on the MMO scene using the FF name...ugh that made me angry. All the latest games lack the finesse of FF 5-7 or Tactics.

Square has had its knack for a few non-FF/non-Saga games before it began development on the PS2. Parasite Eve comes to mind, and especially, Bushido Blade, Einhander and Brave Fencer Musashi. These were all great games on the PSone, and while though Musashi finally got a well-deserved, although a bit lacking sequal, Parasite Eve (a 3rd game for the PS2 was announced but never saw the light), Bushido Blade (another developer picked up the rights to it I think) and Einhander (God only knows) are pretty much in limbo more or less.

Square is trying pretty hard to change though, I can give them that much credit, such as moving the direction of the FF series and getting into the MMO scene, and even listening to fans cries for more FF7 and actually did a direct sequal of a FF game (X-2). But there is still alot of room for improvement on their part of the merger.

Bushido Blade was a great game but for me Parasite Eve was playing off the success of Resident Evil too much and I couldn't really enjoy it. As for Einhander I've been looking for a copy of that one, I got into the Square scene much later than I should have.

Personally, I love playing games with familiar characters. I absolutely love Kingdom Hearts and now I'm practically orgasmic everytime I see an Advent Children trailer. I hate it when a company just abandons characters that they've made you love.

[Edit] By the way, AC has now seen it's debut on the big screen in both Venice and Japan. According to reviews the story is fantastic and the fight scenes nearly put those in the Matrix to shame.

Sorry for making a double post but as the movie was released yesterday in Japan I think the thread should stay alive. I "aquired" the movie yesterday and downloaded English subtitles for it, considering they only released the Japanese version. This movie was just incredible though. Everything was so well done from the graphics to the detail to the story and acting. I recommend anyone that is a fan of the game sees this as soon as possible.

Fabulous and I watched it last night with some friends and we were all blown away.

The North American release should be in November sometime and the Eropean version I have no clue on.

I watched it yestarday 2 and im at your opinion Spoon. This movie will blow your heads off. Watch it if u dont this will be really big lost.
