Free Speed: Overclocking
#1
Well i am subscribed to a magazine issue called: Pc World.
I found some very interesting information and decided to scan the pages and post them here, with Spitfires promission of cuarse... aka: (dont ban me for ripping because i scanned it myself from the official magazine....)

Also if you have no idea what you are doing with your pc i suggest do not try this.

Hopefully you succeed and your pc will be faster than ever!

overclocking has existed since the begining of time.. pc world must be a slow magazine Tongue

overclocking is not popular cuz it can do serious damage to ur cpu. unless u have a "GODLY" fan.. and artic silver and shit like that, u shouldnt overclock.

if u arent carefull ur cpu or video card or wutever ur overclocking will overheat.

that said.. thats a really good guide for video card overclocking, lots of shit i didnt know..

for ur sake, i hope pc world doesnt see this ><

I don't do any processor OC'ing...I run on a geforce 6800 though, and I unlocked the other 4 pixel pipelines using RivaTuner....I can't tell a big difference, though.

i've overclocked the shit out of my computer. both video card and processor are overclocked so my system is running at about 1900 instead of 1600. BUT, i have a custom built case with 8 fans running at all times (one built on the Vid card, one on the processor, one 4" suckin air in front, one dual fan thingy sucking air underneath my cd-rom, one on the power supply, one on the side sucking air in, and one on the top blowing everything out) and my tower is right under the a/c vent in my room. been running it like that for over a year now no problems.

lol i wouldn't reccomend it with a laptop. and as far as installing fans all mine are huge so i just bought a power supply splitter with like, a buncha extra power plug-ins and i have a huge power supply. and the case i just carefully cut my holes in the skin and painted it black. i'm gonna repaint it bright lime green soon tho and put a clear green face over it so the front fan green led's will light it up a bit. its gonna be schweetness.... JW, what temps do you usually get? I have an dryer tube going from a rear 120*38mm Panaflo to a floor AC vent, I can get around 22-24C for the CPU, and about the same for the MB when the AC's on. Can't wait til winter so I can stick the tube out the window Big Grin

Note that you should have sufficient cooling and power inside your PC before overclocking stuff. And overclocking voids the warranty, so when your stuff breaks down, don't expect to bring it back in.
