im not sure if ths has always been but it seems u dont have to lvl ur mercs anymore
say ur lvl 80 then just go to any1 that sells u mercs and u can buy them at lvl 78-80
so when u buy them they are about ur lvl no matter where no matter what lvl u are.... lol im playn now and just figured this out so i thought i would post
also it seems that gem shrines now spit p gems not just chipped if ur a high lvl....(unless i was carrying a flawless but i strong believe that i wasnt)...(if im wrong just tell me k)

Yeah the merc level system changed after the first 1.11 patch. Real handy now.
I'm not sure about the gem shrine. As far as I know, it just upgrades the lowest gem you have in your inventory. But if you say it may have changed, I'll try it out and report back!

yeah the merc thing is kinda cool, i noticed that too.. and tehn read somin about it, But can a lower level merc Still get better stats then higher level mercs, u know.... over time, after lvling? cause if not it would suck to forget to get a merc @ lvl 40 and be penalized @ 90 By not having a well Stated merc. :|

dont know about that slimp but i do know that u merc is now within 5 lvls of ur char lvl when u hire it

yes mercs can still get better stats over time if you level them than if you buy them high. gem shrines still upgrade 1 random gem you have in your inventory. if you have no gems in your inventory they still spit out a chipped

how will his stats be better
say u buy 1 at bout lvl 30 or so and rasie him to 80 vs if u buy 1 at 80?

Its not soo hard to make him xp in nm nithlak temple. If you make one full run there he will get about 10 lvls i think not sure.
