It's in the guide, but it's all still slightly muddled, so here it is:

" Mercinary:
The aim is to have a good tank, not a killer, You can take care of the killing Yourself, so I suggest either:
Act 2 merc with Defiance: Boosts Your and his defence. Useful.
Act 2 merc with Holy Freeze: EXTREMELY HELPFUL! Even if You have a cold sorc. Why? Because he slows the enemies down, so that they're easier to hit, and he also slows down cold immunes, something that a cold sorc is completely helpless against.
Act 5 merc: I occasionally use these, because they have better resists."

If I were You, I'd go with Holy Freeze, even though You are a cold sorc.

yes that was wat i was asking for. so i should make a holy freeze merc. umm since i am a orbing mfer, i need to put 1 into energy shield and energy up to 150 right? ok for the 150 into mana is it i put 150 or is it until u get to 150 in energy?

If I were You, I'd do the following:
Naked stats:
Str: 97
Dex: 75
Vit: rest
Ene: 100

Skills (naked as well, of course):
20 Frozen Orb
20 Ice Bolt
20 Cold Mastery
20 Shiver Armor
1+ Energy Shield (the rest of the skillpoints go in here)
1 Teleport
1 Warmth

You should have heaps of mana, with 100 Energy as a base and another 100+ from Shako, 150+ from Wizzy. Insight on a merc will also be crucial, because Mana = Life.

Lol. Are You ladder or non? Wizardspike, a 100% legit item, costs a Ko rube tops on Europe ladder. If You are non-ladder, You may mean Wizzy rings from 1.09...

If You follow the build that I posted above, and also get a merc with Insight, then no, never really, unless You get hit.

if your merc uses insight you dont waste any mana... and ya orb is so weak against meph

No, with level ~25 orb, it should take You less than 1 minute to teleport to meph and kill him. I don't know how orb damage is calculated, but it's very effective against bosses.

I just wanted to let you know i likeed the guide. Didn't follow it completely but it helped me make my own kind of. I made a Orb sorc with a nm act 2 merc. He has the shaftstop, Obediance(sp?) and vamp gaze on. He did die sometimes but i think it was more my fault then his. :p I have full Tal set one. Got it for an soj. Was cheep to me. Actually i spent more on getting the merc stuff. lol. I also have a perfect gheeds along with my inventory full of sc's (From 7% to 5% mf). Have my tomb of portals too. What i really wanted to say is that i have almost no problem mf-ing any boss. I do have some trouble with getting to Diablo though, and haven't tried Baal as of yet. B-net has been slightly laggy and teleporting has been a problem.

Lvl 72 Orb Sorc:
Str. 102-105 (With mods etc.)
Dex. 50-55 (Can't remember for sure)
Vit. 60
Mana. 300

Reason why i have so much mana is i went energy shield. Wasn't sure what kind of armor spell i was to use.

Gear:
Tal Belt
Tal Ammy
Tal Armor
Tal Helm
Tal wep (+2 cold)
SOJ Ring
BK Ring (Think I might put on another SOJ instead.)
War Trav Boots (Only 37% though)
Chance Gloves (40%)

Like i said before merc only dies when like Knight casts IM on him or something stupid like that. But honestly i am not even getting decent drops. I also have a p topaz in armor. Will soon have a p topaz on wep and helm just for shits and giggles too. Any idea why my drops suck?

Not if you use a wizzy (+50 fcr)

It will be almost impossible for you to mf baal because of mana burn. I personally wouldn't go so all out on enery just because of safety... You can also die in an instant when teleing and you get attacked by a mana burn special monster.
