so i put some dvd backups on to my comp, and when i try to play them it says i need the codec, i dont know what ithis is and where to get it can some on put me in the right direction

What player are you using? Do the normal DVDs play? If you explore the files on the DVD, what format are they?

im using wmp, and when i put thwm on the comp they are wmp files, or were converted, idk what thay are on the disk, there my friends movies.

Try googeling BSPlayer pro. Plays every format under the sun AND it automatically integrates .ssa files for fan sub's.
