lol, the pain... the pain...

but most of my references were from last year. yank's playin in da playoff game i think, jeter had a nice hit, got out though, but i think it helped the team. the camera man turned to him in the dugout and jeter said a nice 4 lettered word not meant for children on public television. i sat there for a minute wondering, "well yeah, u didnt get on base, but you get paid millions of dollars a year, even if you went 0-100 on the season."

i wouldnt ***** over that, cuz hey, id be a millionaire =)

Edit: ya, Giambi trade wasnt too bad until i heard it was to the yankee's... i wanted to go shoot a cannon up his butt hole.

oh come on, do we need a totalitarian rule in baseball like the pre-union days (well now that I think about it...) but still, its modern times, and if a player sees more money and better opportunities, who can blame him. I FORGIVE ANDY PETTITE...i had to get that off my shoulders

The A's are one of the best teams because:
1. they know how to make fresh baseball players into stars.
2. they kick *** =)

the A's trade away about 50-75% of their star players because the players are greedy and want more money.

u see nublitoria, it feels better to let people know you felt pain in that one moment. And hey sure Jeter cursed, but that guy barely ever speaks, so let the guy slip up once. As for pain, i remember mariano throwing that ball into the outfield with 1 out, and nobody on base in the bottom of the 9th in 2001 world series..."a day which will forever live in infamy"- FDR

the days when players spent theyre careers on one team were the best baseball had, my dad constantly talks about those times when players were humble and played for the pure joy and u could really like them when u saw them yr after yr, i wish i coulkd have lived during that time, the golden age of baseball

Remember that this ,quote on qoute, "golden age" still was hampered by severe racism throughout baseball and America, as well as pitchers using vasoline, spit, etc. to change the outcome of a game, and don't forget which team really shined during those days, check dynasties in each decade up to the downfall in the 70's. Ill give u a hint...the yankees?

now its the money age of baseball.

one recent painful moment, remember last year, cubs against boston i think? i forget who the cubs played, but newayz, remember that fly ball that the fan knocked away? it was painful to the cubs, but even more painful to that guy. every fan was *****ing, yet i could have sword that there were at least 50 more pairs of hands going after the ball.

That was despicable, the way that guy was treated. Btw, it was the Cubs-Marlins Series Game Six Wink And, this just shows that we can't blame the baseball players for their greed for money, how about the trashiness you find in some fans...

yep. reminds me of some raider games. raiders suck teh **** newayz. its all bout da 49'ers, lmao. they suck even more ***, but they still my team. newayz, there will always be ****headed fans out there, and to deal with them... shoot them in the friggin head!

racism in baseball virually ended long before societys did as was proof when jackie was embraced by his teamates, true there was cheating but time staightened that out, ya i liked the old yankees before the greed, they were a great team based soley on talent without pourin out massive amounts of cash to get it

Not to undermine what either of you two, gaccet and nublitoria, are saying first off: Jackie Robinson suffered extreme racism in baseball, check his biography, certain teammates of his hated him and never spoke to him. As a second ba*****, the players always slid into his legs, spikes up, just to hurt him. And most of the best players have been white. Black baseball players would rule the game, if there wasn't basketball, football for them to shine in. Baseball is still a predominantly white sport, and the best players are still predominantly white

im not sayin he didnt struggle but he was accepted by the game more often than not, it was society that was more resistant to his playing, most of the racism he experienced came off the field, a person in my speech class gave a speech on him, he said he experienced more off the field than on, and hes a baseball freak, he could tell u the stats of every player ever(not literally i think)

Jackie Robinson, while maybe having friends on his team, had nothing else throughout baseball. He was alone, he was a scapegoat for other players to abuse. The man was abused physically, emotionally, and mentally both on and off the field... I don't care what that kid in your class thinks, instead read the facts and you shall see for yourself, Jackie Robinson lived a short-life because of the amount of pressure he faced BOTH on and off the field. Both scenarios were just as bad...

Baseball is a dying sport because of the lopsidedness. Look at all the teams with poor ticket sales throughout baseball. When they show baseball highlights on ESPN, I see a lot of empty seats. Chris Bergman says, "back, back, back." The ball lands into no man's land, and no one even bothers running down the ball for a souvenir. LOL. It's only a matter of time until baseball is reduced to a handful of teams.

In contrast, the reason why football has become so popular is because of team balance. Look at all the different Superbowl winners in the past few years. The "dynasties" are gone. Football fans all over now have hope. As long as this balance remains, the expansion teams will keep rolling in.

obviously there were racists in baseball but it wasnt as wide spread as you claim, a few bad apples always ruin it for the rest of us, it only takes a few jackasses and because of racisms hatefull nature even just one person could cause severe physical emotional and mental pain, he lasted much longer than anyone thought he would, a true testament to his great courage

Gaccet, If i were you I'd start reviewing my sources, cause to tell me that baseball wasn't mostly racist back in the 60's, is telling me that you just saw Martha Stewart is innocent
