Baseball 2004!!

didnt the dodgers have the fewest runs allowed and the fewest runs produced even against the best team, and 25%of their games were either lost or won by 1 run

Whether you lose by 1 or a million, a loss is a loss....and besides, i have heard some experts who say that teams that lose the close games are usually the bad ones, the dodgers were sooooooooooo bad offensively that as a whole, they were a disappointing team.

close loses are more respectable in my opinion, u prove u can hang with the big dawgs, didnt the tigers have an even worse offensive record(barely)

Lets not get started with the Tigers, a minor league team playing in the majors....as for the Dodgers, a close loss that happens every now and then is alright and maybe a little convincing, but when your team loses most of its games by 1 run, it shows how puny they are...especially since the dodgers hitters werent always facing a Curt Schilling...

good point but it does show that their defense was the best in the league to be able to reduce teams offense to the virual equivalent of their own

The Dodgers are primarily a defensive and pitching team...reminds me of the most recent Yankee Dynasty, but with one difference...even though they don't need big time sluggers, nor do they have any except Shawn Green, the Dodgers lineup would look better if i put my little sisters softball team in place of their hitters.

the dodgers have a prety high pay roll as well, and i remeber that was a big criticism, all that money and the offense couldnt produce

The one advantage this team has is a deep pitching staff and from what i've heard a pretty good farm system, so sooner than later the Dodgers should emerge as a serious contender. My predictions? A couple of years...

the priates have the best farming, they cultivate young seedlings into buding ballpalyers then sell them to the highest bidder

Poor Pittsburgh...first came wheat, then steel, then the Pirates, and now....misery. The Pirates need to dump their owners and pronto if they want to survive in the baseball world of today.

i know theve gotten caught up in big business and the desire to make money at the expense of the team, most of my family either lives or come from pitts and they say the fans are pissed at the management and the proof is in the ticket sales, theyve been declining for yrs ever since the early 90's when the best chance for a consistent return to penant races was destroyed by greedy owner assholes

Gaccett Wrote:fights are also an embarassment to the game, and no baseball players are wussies except pitchers, it takes balls to have a guy through a 95mph fastball at you and still be able to stay in there and hit it, and they have no protection except catchers, and being cleated is no small thing, or getting in a collision with no padding which football and hockey players have and lots of it

Pitchers are wussies? I'd love to see you try and throw a ball 95mph... And, football is by far the greatest sport ever (to me), the only baseball games I watch are the big important world series games. Hmm... as for basketball, I consider it a fun thing to play on the street, but I follow it so little, I couldn't name more than 5 people in the NBA :o

i was clocked at high 80's in my prime(i dont play much now) and im a catcher so my arm was actually in better shape than most pitchers(i could thro to second base at full power constantly and not have my arm hurt, ive never iced down my arm), and they are because they hate batting because theyre scared of being hit and not being able to play, a condition that baseball stratagists have hammered into baseball fundamentals in recent yrs

Just a question, but did you mean the mlb pitchers are afraid to bat?
Reply
#75
they are, my brother is a pitcher for high school and he says when he pitches he doenst like to bat and says that the hard core pitchers on the team are afraid of batting, if u watch the pros many pitchers when batting will step in the bucket as they attempt to get out of the way
