I was wondering about how much def should a armor have in order to make a good or ok enigma?

and also if a 495def armor good enough or should i get a better one?

If You are makeing an Enigma, it's pointless to make it in a crap armor. Depends on which character You're going to put it on, and what the rest of Your eq is going to be like. Basically, the principle is that You make it in a Superior armor, with at least 12%ed. For exaxmple, I made mine for my druid on Superior Mage Plate 14%ed (defence that is, not durability). Either make it in a Breast Plate if You are going to put none in STR, however even then I would go for a Mage Plate. Archon Plate is by far the best, but requires a decent amount of STR. Also people occasionally make them in Dusk Shrouds and Scarab Husks.

I perfer archon plate just cause i like the way it looks on my hammerdin
any 3os archon above 500 defense should make a suitable enigma
You said so much without ever parting your lips.

Don't make a bp, they really suck. Go for Mage Plate, or if You're desperate, a Light Plate.

LOL! I was doing CS runs today with my lvl 86 wind Druid, and I got Superior Dusk Shroud 14%ed 4 sox and a Superior Dusk Shroud 15%ed 12%edurability 4 sox. Going to sell them for Ist each.

103 str is not a lot of str IMO, plus if u got anni and hellfire + str charms + str items it doesn't seem like much at all, anyway upped hoz need 142 str for those pallys and i don't believe ur gonna socket it with Hel

103 as a base is an OVERKILL if useing Enigma. I just made a Wind Druid, and he's got 40 as base STR. He is useing Enigma MP and a Spirit Monarch, and I don't even have an anni yet.

it all depends on what character. casters (ie wind druid, bone necro)don't add strength if they got torch and anni which gives them enough for a mage plate enigma. But for other characters (barb, hammerdin) they need added defense to tank out and their strength req. for all their items are usually way higher than casters so you will end up adding additional strength points anyways
