ok my new 480w power supply gets here yesterday (upgrading from a 250w) and i slap that bitch in the computer and load it up. i get to windows close out all my unecessary programs, wait for steam, click on CS: SOURCE.... and the mother ****er restarted AGAIN!!! not just once but 3 times before i gave up. WTF IS WRONG???? i've got plenty of power running that damn card but i still can't even get to the menu screen of any of my source programs...
Last time i played was with my 5500 OC, and while i was in Lost Coast i went ahead and cranked the graphics just to see what it was like. is this just too much for my rig to handle? how do i go about resetting my default video settings without being in the game? THIS IS PISSIN ME OFF i paid 130 bucks for a new vid card and 28 on a power supply and i can't play my good games...

and i can't get into the game to turn the graphics down or trust me i would. source games have that load screen that uses high quality graphics and as soon as it says Loading at the bottom of the screen my computer restarts.

nope, can't get anywhere past the the game's load screen. i think tonight i'm just gonna try re-installing the game (that should take about 3 hours lol) and see if that helps.

any of the source based games. HL2, CS:S, Lost Coast, DOD Source... all of those won't work...

well if youve got a nice expensive graphics card, then it probably isnt the game video settings.. make sure you have the newest drivers, etc and that your card is supported by the game, etc your bios is configured correctly, etc etc etc. make sure you check and recheck everything because it only takes 1 little thing to **** everything up.

yeah i've got all the bios set, i used the drivers that came on the cd with the card. the game detects that i'm using the bfg 6200 OC, and all my other games work flawlessly. so this is why i'm thinking maybe something corrupted in the game itself, because Second Life uses alot more resources to run than Source does and i don't have any problems with Second Life. so i'm gonna begin the re-install process tonight and see if that helps.

Steam thought I had a 4.2GHZ Athlon 64 once (it's really 2.0) :p
As for feeling stupid, I once went 2 days on a really old 16mb VC because I thougt my 9800pro was broken, when it turns out I just forgot to plug the molex power cable back into the card after I was messing around with the comp ><
