Getting around the IP ban
#1
Hey, I've looked around the forum, but I can't seem to find any info on how to get around the stupid "Realm down" thing. My cable internet provider doesn't let me change IP addresses, so I can't just change it and get back on when it happens.... is there any other way to get around this?

You want to unplug the cable modem, lick the electrical socket then plug it back in. The modem just need more conduction.

ip ban happens because u movin around too fast.

20 games per hour is what blizzard allows. thats 3 min per game is allowed minimum.

Well Cable is a tricky issue for me, never had one before. Try what people mentioned above, Close Modem/Unpower, wait a few min, turn on.

For DSL Users:
-Depending on your DSL Modem box, names will vary:-
Open up FireFox/Internet Explorer-
-Type in 192.168.1.1 (this is default modem ip)
-Look around for Configuration, or Static Ip.
-You will most likely get prompt to enter username/password (this is the username/password that you signed up with verizon, if not, try User:Admin Password: Password.
-You can set if u want static ip or not. My static ip is enabled for : User Configured PC. This means that i choose my own static ip. Note, this is STATIC IP, not IP itself, meaning you are still limited to what your NIC card/modem can do on the internet.
-After you choose Static IP, go to start, control panel, Network connections, right click ->properties, Scroll down to Internet Protocol(tcp/ip), click the box where it says "Use the following ip" and type in the static ip of your choice.
Note: First three bars must be 192.168.1. (in my case, anyway). the last # can go from 2-254.
-Subnet mask (honestly i have no idea what this is, i put 255.255.255.0 - Its supposedly telling your NIC what digits to read/send.
Default gateway is 192.168.1.1
Dns Server: 192.168.1.1

Now go ahead and save that all up.
You may restart comp, just to refresh all settings. Now if you play d2 and experience ip ban, go to Internet Protocol(tcp/ip) and change the last digit one value up /down, reset modem and attempt to play d2 again)

~_~_~_~_ If this method doesnt work, disable Static Ip, then follow:
-
-Start->run->cmd
-ipconfig/release [press enter]
-ipconfig/renew [press enter]

This method has never worked for me, but some ppl claim it works. Test it if u want.

Hope this helps some ppl.

If you have dsl, turn off the cable box and turn it back on. Thats all.
