Wind Druid
#1
~Wind Druid~

Table of Contents:
I What type of Druid?
II Skills
III Stats
IV Gear/Equipment

Part One: What type of Druid?

First of all, you have to determine what type of Druid you are. Yes, we know you want to be a Wind Druid, but do you want to make it especially to kill casters, or to tank barbs? Stats and gear depend on your decision, so you should decide now.

Part Two: Skills

The skills should be placed accordingly:

20 Cyclone Armor
20 Twister
20 Tornado
20 Hurricane
20 Oak Sage
1 Grizzly
1 Ravens
1 both wolves

And of course, the 1 skill point requirements to reach the main ones.
Now that that's taken care of, let's move on to stats.

Part Three: Stats

This is one of the more important if not the most important part of your Druid. This pretty much determines what type of Druid you are.

Strength: Just enough for gear. Use Anni and Hellfire to minimize the amount you have to put in it.
Dexterity: If you want to achieve max block to tank barbs, then you need to raise this quite a bit. Not sure on the exact amount, but I would say around the 220 area with ss?
Vitality: If you're a tanker, put the rest of the points in here. If you're a caster killer, this is your main stat, put every point into it. Once you have put enough in str to use your gear of course. [Image: icon_wink.gif]
Energy: Base is fine.

Part Four: Gear and Equipment

Weapon: Hoto for sure. Or Wizspike if Hoto is unavailable.
Weapon 2: Call to Arms Runeword.
Shield: Tankers can use a Hel'd Stormshield, caster killers use Spirit. (Thanks for reminding me i forgot to change)
Shield 2: Spirit. Lidless and Splendor work too.
Helm: If you're rich, go for an 08 valk, or a rare circlet. If you can't get either, just use shako.
Ammy: A crafted fcr Druid ammy, or rare one with fcr. Maras works also.
Armor: Enigma. Must have if you want to stack your pets
Ring 1: Storm Loop, ravenfrost, bk ring, dwarf star or another fcr ring. Soj works too.
Ring 2: Same as above.
Gloves: Magefists, or Trangs gloves. If you can afford, Wizardspike gloves are good too.
Boots: Imp shanks, or Sandstorm Treks.
Belt: Spider.
Charms: Ele gcs with life. Hellfire Torch, and Anni

Feedback for anything wrong please thank you.

somebody told me tornado did physical damage..If so then rends would be good for the crushing blow and extra ED%

Dude, I'm sorry, but "Tele on him and spam tornado" is not a strategy, it's what any moron does. Could I suggest that if it's that obvious then you just don't write anything?

personally i think that's a horrible guide.. when making a wind druid u have to look at the fcr (99, 163) & fhr (99, 174) breakpoints and figure out an equipment combination that is going to satisfy those properly without compromising useful items.

ie. if some one got all those godly fcr items you mentioned, they would have the potential for over 205%fcr... which is over 40% fcr that is not going to make a difference and could instead be an item that would be more beneficial to you.

lemme try something that would be a litle more helpful. and im not gonna use 08 valk, wiz gloves, or imps, because although many people can retrieve those items, someone reading this who doesnt know how to build a wind druid probably can't afford them.

Wind Druid Vs. Caster
- gonna wanna aim for 99fcr/99fhr with as hi resists as possible.

helm: um'd jalals
weap: hoto
shield: spirit
armor: enigma
ammy: maras
gloves: trang
belt: spider
rings: soj/bk
boots: treks

weap2/shield2: cta/spirit

this way you get:
- 105-115 fcr depending on spirit.. u reach bp no matter what so dont waste time tradin for high fcr spirit
- 105 fhr
- +85-105 all resist depending on hoto and maras. this ISN'T counting psn res from treks, cold res from trangs, resists from spirit, & resists from anni/torch

Wind Druid Vs. Melee
- gonna wanna aim for 99fcr/174 fhr with high %dr.

helm: ber/ber coa
weap: 35% fcr spirit crystal sword
shield: 35% fcr spirit monarch
armor: enigma
ammy: maras
gloves: magefists
belt: verdungo
rings: 1x 10% fcr ring/soj
boots: treks

weap2/shield2: cta/spirit

this way you get:
- 100 fcr .. ONE of your spirits can be a 34%.
- 170 fhr .. you're gonna need 1x 5%fhr sc and you're set.
- 44-54% dr depending on how good/crappy the dr on coa & dungo is. cap is 50% so plan ahead so u dont go over. if u can get perf dr coa and dungo i suggest socket coa with ber & hel instead.

When u guys say Spirit shield do u mean spirit runeword or spirit ward shield? And in your gear you didnt specify an armor so can u put one in there? Thanks.

The runeword Spirit. And Enigma is a must have.

I cant afford a nigma, is there a cheaper alternative?

For PvP, no. For PvM, you can try the Druid runeword that was introduced in 1.11, I think that it was called Rain or something. Also, Coh would not be too bad, but I guess since you cannot affor Enigma, you cannot afford Coh either. But for PvP, Enigma is a must have.

For PvM, other cheap alternatives would be upped Viper, Que-Hegan's Wisdom, any armor that gives skills and other handy mods. I suggest that you try Rain (if thats how it was called).

I'm mainly going to be PvM tho with this druid if not purely PvM. Theres no unique armor other than CoH that will hold up ok?

CoH isnt unique, its a runeword. Vipermagi is a unique armour that would do well for someone who cant afford enigma
