Hey people, post your opinion about who has the best guitarists...you can name multiple bands and give atleast 1 reason also please!
1. The Fall Of Troy - becoz they have the most psychadelic music and use the combination of 2 guitarists insanely!!! fastest solos and pretty cool stuff. Genre: Hardcore/Experimental
2. Slayer - bcoz they have the fastest solos and they KILLLLL!!!! Genre: Heavy Metal
3. Guns N' Roses - bcoz they have the most beautiful and CREATIVE music and sound pretty flippin nice!!! Genre: 80's Metal
i watched top5 best guitarists and #2 was metallica and #1 was slash(guitarist from guns n' roses)
in my opinion all underground, hardcore/experimental, and metal bands own at soloing and guitaring...
EDIT: each time i type G.U.I.T.A.R.I.S.T, it puts that dude playing guitar

Three question marks? Is this a life or death question or something?
Anyway, I like Matthew Bellamy, John Lowery, and Randy Rhoads... among others. But those three I particularly like more.

"OK"

I'd say that Children of Bodom manage to blend two guitars in very well... Besides that, I'd say the guitarist of Mercyful Fate... Oh and of course, Yngwie Malmsteen, but that's going to the very top now... I presume you mean more ordinary metal/rock bands?

You are a ****ing RETARD. God damn you people are ****ing stupid. What the hell are your problems? SLIPKNOT IS NOT GOOD. THEY HAVE NOTHING GOING FOR THEM. EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEIR MEMBERS SUCKS AND IS A DOUCHE BAG. THEY HAVE NO TALENT AND THEY NEVER WILL.
The three best guitarists is hard, but...
Dimebag Darrell. (GodandRock, if you don't know who that is, then every piece of writing of shit I've put towards you is increased 10 fold.)
Alexi Laiho. Again, you're a dipshit if you don't know who he is.
And probably... Corey Bealieu or Matt Heafy of Trivium.

Dimebag - No need to explain why.
Triviums guitarists are also amazing.
Out of the 3 John Lowery is my fav. His CD's are only him and a drummer. He plays all parts of the song (Rhythm and Lead Guitar and Bass)

I like Eric Johnson. Nobody here mentioned him and I doubt anyone would have. http://video.google.com Search Eric Johnson. Watch Cliffs of Dover or the Manhattan clip. He is definitely a god among musicians.
Seconded the Dimebag motion. I think Alexi is great and has lots of potential, but to me his music just sounds like scales and arpeggios a little bit too fast. Hopefully one day he can evolve into something more than that. Don't get me wrong, I love Bodom and have seen them twice, but I think Alexi has a lot of room to grow. Maybe not technically, but emotionally.
That said, these two are my absolute guitar gods. I think no two men have influenced rock guitar more, specifically legato metal guitar:
and
I'm normally a humble and easy going guy, sarcastic, but easy going none the less. However, if you disagree about Ed and Randy being two of the best, I must say you are an idiot. Maybe not technically (but I would argue they are) but definitely in feel and influence. They pour emotion every time they play/played

hey no offense or anything, but im pretty damn good on guitar/bass and all of those guys suck. If you want the best guitarists you need to listen to steve vai, alexi laiho (children of bodom), john frusciante (rhcp), bjorn gelotte ( in flames) etc.

Hey no offence but this is Flame Wars. You are an arrogant idiot. I've been playing 9 years and I would never say anyone sucked, even though i'm pretty established myself. No guitarist IMHO is better than anyone else; it's not a damned competition like I've said here before. It's art.
You can't really say one painting is better than another one, now can you? Sure you can, but who are you to judge? What is the basis of a good painting? How colors mesh? What if you were color blind? Colors don't mean shit.
I really don't see how you could say anyone mentioned in this thread sucks, either. I mean, if you want to talk about a guitarist who sucks, lets talk someone like that guy frmo the Ramones. What was his stage name, Johnny? Rocky? Dipshit? Who knows, not I. I don't like the "Holier than Thou" attitude.
I wish I had kept my shit together here and was still a mod, because I would probably edit your post. Threads like this, I think, need to be like.. name a good guitarist for people to check out. The only reason I care is because I may be high, though no guarantees, and I love music. I LOVE music. I love music and I hate music elitists. You are a music elitist.
Elitists are gay. You remind me of the idiots who are anti-cannabis yet drink a handle of cheap wine every night.
I call people like you hypocrits
And **** that goddamned guitar-ist word icon.

Alex is Eddie's brother. Eddie is the guitarist and Alex is the Drummer. Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth were on vocals while Michael Anthony handled bass duties.

Either
1-Led Zeppelin (Jimmy Page)
2-Rage Against The Machine (Tom Morello)
3-Cream (Eric Clapton)
So many good guitarists I dunno if I would go with my list...1 and 2 I keep but 3 was hard one, Clapton kicks ass at guitar though.

My fav. would these 4
1) Vivian Campbell when he was in Dio
2) Dave Mustaine when he was in Metallica
3) Both K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton of Judas Priest

Usually its up to the person to decide, Eddie Van Halen would sit there at 6pm and while Alex Van Halen was drunk and getting laid, he'd come home at 3am and Eddie would still be sitting there w/ his guitar.
Mick Mars wouldn't pay attention in class and rather wait till he can get his hands on his guitar when he gets home, sometimes he even skipped school just to play guitar.
So if you want to be as good as them. I think a good 2+ hrs a day.
