Playstation, The Console Killer?

Well seeing as how 360 has come out and it costs $300 for the POS version, and it has a limited line-up of games w/ incomplete backwards-compatibility, I was wondering if anyone else thinks that PS3 will destroy 360 early as PS2 did Dreamcast? And also I've been thinking that if Revolution comes out and it goes over in the US like GC did that Nintendo will stop exporting consoles and just compete in the handheld market in the USA.

I was just wondering if anyone else thinks this is a possibility. Playstation has a rep for killing consoles and it wouldn't surprise me if it lived up to its rep.

Well the ps3 is definatly going to triumph over in speed, because the ps3 has 9 cpus, but only 8 are on, but still 8 is a lot, and seeing by that, the graphics card is probably going to be superb too.
The 360 would have been better if it were released later and had more work put into it.

the ps3 is much more powerful than the 360, but the 360 was a triumph itself, most stores went sold out in the first week.

we cannot deny the playstations console killing abilities, but ps1 = SHIT compared to N64, ps2= SHIT compared to ngc and yet, people tend to enjoy it more? well evryone has a different opinion. but i doubt it will kill the revolution. the revolution will be powerful enough to play high graphic games, but will not have HD compatibility, most people cant even afford HD tvs, why would they waste time with a PS3 if the graphics wont be so great with a Non-HD tv.

also, the price on the ps3 will be INSANE, compared to the super cheap reliable Revolution, with FULL backwards compatibility, and the revolutionary controller. it is indeed hard to guess what will happen, well have to wait and see

@bartender : the 360 can already do EXTREMELY HIGH graphics games, there wouldve been no point in adding more shit to it and making it cost even more.

i doubt that ps3 will kill 360 since it's not gonna come out for a full year later. Most of the issues with the xbox 360 should be fixed by the time the ps3 will come out. Sony has always had problems with buggy consoles on release so you figure it'll take another 6 months - year to get all the glitches out. Not to mention the fact they are planning a 3 region launch (japan, na, euro) for about million systems. So no one's gonna have one for a while.
The other thing is xbox has such a huge fanbase that i doubt it will die. Same with the ps3, it's not gonna kill sony because there are so many fanboys who will pay however much to get one.

The Rev will be the death of Nintendo I think though because of the controller. Personally i hate the idea of not even having a stick. I think they're going after the crowd that has brought about the resurgence of retro games. And I do think the 360 could have had more work done, because the one time I played it, it didn't even seem like anything new to me.
The only game I actually played was King Kong but it just seemed like it wasn't out of the Xbox's power to make those graphics and that gameplay. It just seemed less than impressive to me.

1. the controller has MOTION SENSORS
2. u can have an Analog Stick add-on
3. lets not forget nintendo was the first to have the analog stick...

the playstation has always been the weakest of all consoles, the playstaion 1 would be dead if it wasnt for IDIOTs who thought the playstation actually rendered the FF7 movies.
You will not feel any 360 game is impressive unless u toggle the HD switch and plug it to an HD tv. not to mention the 360 can do global illumination

Im going to be buying a ps3. I don't give a **** what specs it has, i want one for the games available to it, If i wanted to play kiddy bollocks (yes, nintendo) I'd go play on the teletubbies website.

Motion sensors? Man when I'm blasting caps or beating the hell outta someone in a video game I don't want motion sensors. Rev is stupid, all the games that will come out for it will be aimed at 8 year olds. Nintendo has screwed their own rep in the US, Americans want to play games that are fun for the. Not fun for 8 year olds.

I guess my point is, GC had good tech specs and whatnot. But 3 things really screwed it and my bet is it will screw the Rev to.
1. Kiddy games
2. Inferior controller (Missing a shoulder button, Sticks don't click, and no select *LIKE* button.)
3. Lack of accessible online play.(This will be fixed but the 2 bigger problems will remain.)

90% of the adult games on playstation are released on pc not to long after they are released on ps... and they are way better too(such as gta, and some FPS games)

capcom did 1 right thing though.
instead of making a shitty version of Resident evil4 for the playstion and porting it to the GC, they made a gc version, and then made it worse so a ps2 would run it without too much frame skips

sure there are alot of kiddy looking games on gc, but FFS look at maple story and how many people play it, tell me that game doesnt look like its for 8 year olds... (its not but it really looks like it). and trust me, nothing is more inferior than the PS 1-2-3 controllers, extremely uncomfortable and ugly, what could be worse.

and final fantasy is getting a bit ****ing repetitive after like 14 games!

and the controller isnt gonna detect ur whole bodys motions, just where ur pointing and the angle u are poiting at, mainly because there will be FPS games
so now, tell me what the PS3 will have that the Rev wont have, other than a million cpus -.-

gamecube has some good non-kiddy games, i prefer the controller over the ps2 and xbox ones, and i dont really mind not being able to play online, thats what my computer is for...

my biggest problem with the gc is the fact that they made so few games for it...the gc area in stores is like a quarter the size of the ps2 and xbox areas...this is really the only thing making me think twice about getting revo

Well, for starters most games coming out now require the extra buttons. It's only 3 but have you noticed a lack of complex games for the GC?

-All games will be palyed on the new blu-ray disc technology where blu-ray discc has more MB capacity tehn a regular DVD making games bigger

-will include a 60GB hardrive to save games in (= to 60,000 MB)

Hah, Its funny that you bring final fantasy into your arguement. It holds no grounds. They aren't continuing to make ff games for the playstation. And seriously, Resident evil 4 isn't that bad on the ps2, Sure it may not be as good, But ported games never are, For instance if they had wrote it for the ps2 originally, The GC version would suck. And please i fail to see how one of the most original series of games is repetitive, Do you pay attention to storylines? No, I guess that latest cel shaded version of link flying around like a pansy keeps your eyes glued to the screen.

The console was marketed to kids, And the company is mainly about kids. Sure it may have a few adult-ish games, but at its core its a kids console.

just because there is a cell shaded version of link doesnt really make him a pansy for about four games ( a new ds game) they tryed a different style yes that link did suck but the game was still good , but that doesnt matter now since TP is being made

i dont think that the revo will fail in the US since its going to have a massive appeal to old time gamers since sega and turbo are being added to the list with the n64,nes,snes

the revo i will buy
the ps3 is something i might buy later on if the price is rediculously high
the 360 i will never buy
