Do people still seriously fall for this scam? I thought that this was an issue back in 09, along with all those item-dropping sites. There was some kind of 'hell' clan scam website, and a few others.

The best advise would be not to have your intenet browser open while in a game with another person. I remember sometime back in 09 a person was trying to recruit me into a clan. I told him "fine, I'll leave the game, check out the website, and after I check it out and maybe join, I'll rejoin the game and talk to you". Good times...
