I've decided to start a bone necro, and I wanted to know everyone's view on curses. After the marrowalk glitch was fixed obviously you now have to devote a lot more skill points to synergies, so here was the build I was planning..

1 bone armor, 1 CE
20 Teeth, 20 Bone Spear, 20 Bone Spirit, 20 bone prision.. 1 prereq for bone wall and all remaining points in wall.

But I'm curious about curses. Using this build I want to milk as many hard skill points that i can, all synergies of bone spirit total 100 skill points spent, so I hesitate about curses... Firstly I am undoubtedly going to get dim vision, it makes picking off enemies childs play. I was considering getting decrep (five skill points total) for bosses, but I remember you can cast prision on them and bone spirit will travel through the prision to hit them. And this seems like a long shot, and I don't think it's useful (considering all the prerequs..), but I have heard that iron maiden works when enemies attack your bone prision? Is this true and if so is it at all effective?

Idk if IM would work when your enemies attack your bone prison, if it doesn't it should if the enemy is melee.

the one time i made a boner nec i used decrep..but dim vision might actually be a better choice. i dont know about that bone prison/IM thing...i dont see why it wouldnt work

Dim Vison does not affect super unique monsters, bosses or other players.

I don't PvP. Dim vision I think is one of those underdog skills, people see it's description and don't really get what it entails. Again dim vision firstly causes enemies to execute their current AI routine when cast (for instance, an approaching skeleton will walk towards you but if you move out of the way he won't attack you.). Secondly, an enemy who's ONLY attack is ranged will only fire on you if you are right next to them. Third it makes it so monsters will not use secondary skills! Pit lords wont cast inferno, those teleporting act5 bastards will stay put, shamans won't ressurect fallen. The range of dim vision increases greatly with each skill level, so a single point here would be suffice.

So for a ranged attacking bone mancer, you cast dim vision and you cast cast cast bone spear/spirit while the enemy sits there like a retard.

But you do bring up a good point on bosses, perhaps i'll set five skill points aside until I get to hell and see how well I am against bosses. Then again I could just have a decrep wand on the switch, and actually if I could find a decrep/lower resist wand I'd be set! (LR for baal runs)

I saw it in Arreat's Summit, and actually i was just wondering if anyone ever had tried this. I don't intend to go that far into the curse tree.

IM isnt that far in...its right after amp

if you want, get a wand to try it out first, and if it works good then use the points if you want

IM bone prison/wall did work a while back, i don't know about now... just ask a firend of yours who has a WW barb and test it on him =)

I don't know if this trick still works but casting Bone Wall attracts monsters to attack them =/

and as for curses... i say Decrep is your best option... whether PvP//PvM

Maybe attract//confuse
