Computer Showoff Thread
Dan Wrote:Yes well, I'd still rather save $200 over 12 more average fps.
Did you even bother to take note of the differences between in-game settings? 8800 GTX is running at 1600x1200 and has 16 X AA / 16 X AF and still manages to kick the 8600 GT's when the 8600 GT OC is running only at 1280x1024 and has NoxAA / NoxAF. That is a very significant difference.

Yes I saw that, but I still would rather save money. Maybe if I had a college discount or my mommy was paying I would go for a 8800GTX, but as it is I have more important things to spend my money on.

Got this sucker for $4,000, i love discounts.

and before you say anything about software compatibality, anything I dont want to emulate i just stick on vista ultimate which is dual booted.
  • Two 3.0GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
  • 8GB (4 x 2GB)
  • 750GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
  • 750GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
  • 500GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
  • 500GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
  • ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB (2 x dual-link DVI)
  • Apple Cinema HD Display (23" flat panel)
  • Two 16x SuperDrives
  • Both Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and AirPort Extreme
  • Quad-channel 4Gb Fibre Channel PCI Express card
  • Apple Wireless Keyboard and Apple wireless Mighty Mouse - U.S. English
  • Mac OS X - U.S. English
  • AppleCare Protection Plan for Mac Pro/Power Mac (w/or w/o Display) - Auto-enroll
off of the order sheet, still transferring data from old computer to it. Now I can really get some video editing done.

Oh and thats right, 8 cores.

Why such an outdated videocard? I'd expect alot more for $4,000
Reply
retail its alot more. Apple only has a few vid cards that are supported, and that is the biggest gripe i have. Other than that I love it, but Its not such a big deal since I will not be playing any games on it and if I did the most intensive game I play is Eve-Online and Starfleet Command 3

Thinking on just getting a workstation card. It's mostly for video and picture editing. (mostly video).

I would have rebuilt my old computer, but with the size discount I got from Apple, I decided to just get one of them. It was alot cheaper and it looks so purtty.
