I'm not going to bother quoting all the bullshit Integrity posted so I'll just say this. Most drugs are not "poison". Most drugs are not that bad at all. Shit like shroom, pot, and a few others are not bad at all. Medical studies have shown that 30 years of pot smoking does not affect your health, and it's quite apparent with both of my parents.

Yep, very few drugs are actually bad for you, but nowadays, it's almost impossible to get pure drugs, and it's the stuff that they mix in that is harmful.

Very few drugs are harmful. Those that are truely harmful (IE Datura) aren't really drugs; they're poisons that result in an intoxicating delerium in high enough doses. Most recreational/entheogenic drugs, opiates and coca included(along with the refined forms), are far from harmful.

Heroin overdoses are nearly non-existant on it's own, and no, i'm NOT talking about the cuts people add in them. Most all heroin ODs/deaths are the result of one thing: Fatal interactions. Interactions with alcohol and methadone are the two most common, although Speedballs (h and cocaine usually, though it can be any downer/upper) are a huge strain on the ole' ticker. The only REAL side effect from heavy opiate use, in fact, is constipation and physical tolerance/dependancy. If one had the money and a steady supply of pure smack, along with staying hydrated and eating plenty of fiber (IE, wheaties) you could easily avoid serious constipation and never have to worry about dying due to the drug.

I don't even know how substances got into this picture, but yeah, all drug taboos are bullshit. Very few drugs have taboos that should be left standing, and datura is the only one I can think off of the top of my head.

Then again, Datura and the whole nightshade/belladonna family is still totally legal to cultivate, posess, and consume.

If you are in response to my post about drugs, I guess H in general, then no.. I can't really say I can see a negative mental effect due to any habitual opiate use. If anything, most junkies say that smack has added an increased meaning to their life and filled a void.

Triggering psychotic behavior? I suppose since any chemical essentially alters your brain chemistry, you can unlock underlying diseases and mental problems (such as a dormat schizophrenia).. but I don't see that likely with an opiate. Cannabis or psychedelics maybe.. disassociatives (DXM, K, and PCP) definitely.

I would dismiss any claim that a drug "made them insane," though.. because drugs don't. The only real cases of drugs making someone crazy w/ an illness is when they had it all along, and the wrong chemical just made it active
